Editorial Reviews

Two Masters of Horror John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing) and Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Lifeforce) come together to create a chilling anthology of terror.

Alex Datcher (Passenger 57) stars as a woman working the late shift at The Gas Station while a killer is on the loose. Then, Stacy Keach (Road Games) can’t stand the thought of losing his Hair and he’ll do anything to keep it. And finally, Mark Hamill (Star Wars) portrays a baseball player that submits to an Eye transplant after he loses an eye in a car accident.

Featuring guest appearances by Deborah Harry, Sheena Easton, Twiggy, David Naughton (An American Werewolf In London), John Agar (Tarantula), David Warner (Time After Time) and cameos by Wes Craven, Tobe Hooper and Roger Corman, Body Bags delivers a fright-filled night of horror.

"Body Bags" was an anthology type horror film featuring three stories, 2 by John Carpenter and the third by Tobe Hooper. It originally aired on the Showtime movie channel in the early 90s.
Carpenter rarely directed TV films due to creative restrictions and the fact it prevented him from using his favored 2.35:1 aspect ratio however since "Body Bags" was broadcast on a movie channel, he never had to worry about content (though it was unfortunately filmed with 1.33:1 in mind.)
Sadly the DVD is no longer available BUT there is still hope! "Body Bags" is now owned by Lions Gate Entertainment and you can write to them and ask that they re-release it on DVD!

the first story is basically halloween in a petrol station, or if you are american (gas station, guaranteed to scare you witless, the best of the stories,

the second story is way funny! youll laugh youre hair off! ha ha ha ha!!!! a bit of light refreshment after the sheer terror of the first story.

the third story, gets a bit more creepy, about an eye transplant, but i dont think its scary enough! mind you the flashbacks to someone elses vision are good,

all in all the best part of this film is the first 30 mins!!!! very enjoyable film!

Body Bags made our list of the 10 or so older 80s/90s movies we buy for October viewing every year. They're a trip down memory lane for us. I bought a VCR a few years ago just to be able to re-experience watching VHS, like we did when we were kids. This VHS version was a steal, compared to the DVD price for the same movie.

These 3 mini stories in Body Bags absolutely rule! I have seen this 2 times, and I can't wait to see this again.. The 1st story is about this young lady that works graveyard shift in a rather obscure gas-station.. She gets scared over any little thing.. But towards the end things start to get pretty good, with this homocidal maniac stalks her.. 2nd story was pretty bizarre and somewhat boring to say the least, this is my least fave story. It's all about this chubby wubby guy that wants hair, because he is going bald very quickly. Anyway, he becomes very obssessed with this and decides to go see this weird old doctor that uses some kinda miracle to grant him more hair.. Well, to put this story short, just be careful what you wish for, because you might just get it, heh.. 3rd story is probably the best, and most chilling.. This famous baseball player gets in a nasty automobile accident and gets stabbed in his eye, so anyway, they take him to the hospitol, and they give him a brand new eye.. But, this eye is no regular eye... It's from a very very disturbed person to say the least.. Well, I guess I will stop here, go see this, at least rent it, I think you'll like.. Definitely see it at night, though. :-)

The Coroner (John Carpenter) tells us 3 stories of the fates of 3 dead people he was observing in the morgue as our first story "The Gas Station" deals with a young woman who just got her first night at duty working at a gas station as it turns out to be a night of terror when a maniacal madman is after her including killing off some of the costumers. In "Hair" a balding man (Stacey Keach) wants to get new hair as he goes to a new clinic ran by a doctor (David Warner) who grants him his wish but it doesn't turn out what he expects later and finally in "Eye" a baseball player (Mark Hamil) gets his eye injured in an accident yet goes under an experiment to go through an eye transplant as it becomes a complete success, however the eye belonged on a murderer as he gets bizarre visions.

An enjoyable horror anthology produced by John Carpenter with 2 stories directed by him and one by Tobe Hooper of Poltergeist and Texas Chainsaw Massacre fame. The film stars David Noughton, Sheena Easton, Wes Craven, Tom Arnold, Deborah Harry, Twiggy, Tobe Hooper and Roger Corman. This movie has a couple of interesting stories yet the first one is a slasher kind of story you normally see yet i dug the Haddonfield reference which was the name of the hometown in Carpenter's Halloween and there is some gruesome gore here and decent performances mainly by Stacey who is superb yet Carpenter isn't a very good actor despite he is the host of this collection of stories.

Scream Factory does it again with their hit line of DVDs and blu-rays in this blu-ray/DVD combo that has finally the UNCUT version. It has extras like commentaries, featurette and trailer, Scream made another winner.

This movie is a great addition to anyone's Halloween/horror collection. I love it because it's funny and a little creepy, and the cast is awesome. I especially love John Carpenter and David Naughton in their respective roles.

A story collection created by John Carpenter, which was made for cable by Showtime in the mid '90s, as often happens with JC, I was impressed. It has some weird moments and various cameos by several horror directors, which was a very nice touch. The first time I watched this was on the Scream factory combo edition, so I can't compare it to Showtime's original broadcast. All I can do is judge it by this edition.
