I've had other smartphones in the past, most recently a motorola cliq. I had a otterbox case for that phone, but since they were out of stock, I decided to go with body glove (Body Glove is also half the price, incidentally). I was a little more happy with the the Otterbox case, but this is definitely worth this kind of money (15$). Body Glove and Otterbox take a similar approach to their cases, using both a hard and soft layer to get the advantages of both types (I'm talking specifically about the Otterbox commuter series). The difference is that Body Glove put the softer material on the outside, and Otterbox puts it on the inside. I think that both approaches work well, and each have their advantages. The Body Glove case feels firmly gripped in your hands, but since because of the rubbery/ foamy outside, it doesn't slip into your pocket as easily (If you use the included belt clip then this is not an issue). The Otterbox case seemed to protect my phone a little better, but this one does a very fine job too. This could be in part to the slightly delicate nature of the G2 hinge.
The outer material is very interesting. It's kind of a foam/rubber material, and I think it has the advantages of both materials. It doesn't scratch easily, and it also doesn't pull everything else out of your pocket like a cheap rubber case does. The inner shell grips your phone tightly, and this won't come off unless you want it to (and even then, good luck :S).
I really like that it comes with parts for a belt clip, but if you don't want to use that, there is also a filler piece so you don't have to have a hole in the back of the case.
Overall I like this case. It's definitely not a cheapy case which should really cost 3 bucks, and it's much more reasonably priced then Otterbox. If you want to get a good bang for your buck, go with this case.

I got an Amazone gift card for Christmas, so I spent it accessorizing my G2. I bought this case, as well as the Lux shell that is less than a dollar. After trying both, I like the cheap Lux better, although from what I have read in the other reviews the rubberized coating on it may not last long. This case does have a nice coating, and it looks nice. Mine had a scuff on the back already right out of the package, but no big deal.

The belt clip is nice, but I have no use for it. Taking it off means you also lose the kickstand feature. The belt clip button pops out of the back piece and you are given another blank piece to snap into the hole. The inside of the case is covered in felt.

As can be seen in the pictures, the front piece is straight along the bottom and is not formed to protect the area on the sides of the track pad (the cheaper Lux does).

This is also not as small in profile as the Lux; the back is about as thick as the top piece of the phone screen above the seam. You definitely notice a thicker phone when you set it down, and it does add a little weight.

The port and button cutouts are nice; this case does have the Lux beat for mini USB access, as the other case interferes slightly there.

My main gripe with this case is that the snap on tabs extend the tiniest bit too high, such that they do not allow the phone to quite fully close.

All in all a nice, good looking, and seemingly sturdy case.

Pros: Excellent protection from drop shock and the case stays securely in place.

Cons: Slightly bulky. Allows keyboard to slide open, even when upside down. Separates from belt clip too easily. Screen faces outward, which leaves it susceptible to damage.

I bought this case because I thought it would protect my phone from damage and I wouldn't need to buy a separate holster to carry it on my belt. It is a tad bulky, but it's fallen on the pavement twice and my phone survived unharmed both times. That's good since the phone detaches from the belt clip by pressing a small button, which seems to happen frequently and inadvertently. My chief complaint is that the sheer weight of the case causes the screen to separate from the keyboard when I walk, regardless of how I angle the phone. That's not only annoying, but it also causes the screen to light up and wear down the battery. I returned to T-Mobile and they told me they don't have a holster large enough to fit the case, so I'll probably end up buying a cheap silicone case and a separate holster. This problem could have been rectified through better design and user testing. Maybe a little Velcro would do the trick, but I'll leave that for Ron Popeil to figure out.

The Body Glove I thought was going to be much lighter in weight, but it is not. It fits good, however, it is Heavy.Plus there should be a click fastener for the keyboard portion of the phone. It keeps operning up if the phone is not in the verticle position. I had to take the Body Glove off before I accidently break the Keypad away from the main body of the phone. It needs a solid belt loop design and a stronger click positioner to either have in the verticle or horizontal position. The Kick-Stand is nice. Do not forget the safety latch for the keypad to phone body. This will keep the keypad from opening up during normal carying of the phone.
