From the Author
I am delighted that you are passionateabout making your children more confident, enabling them to build strongerrelationships as well as to perform better academically. These abilitiesrequire "emotional regulation"-- that is, the process of recognizing emotions, expressing feelings, calming oneself down in the face of overwhelming emotions, and learning to treat others with empathy.
Like us, adults, kids have a wide rangeof feelings. They get happy, jealous, disgusted, angry, nervous, sad, proud, worried, and excited. But at a very young age, they simply don't possess thevocabulary to express their feelings verbally. They express their feelingsthrough tantrums, mimicry, physical movements, and gestures. These expressions areoften sweet and funny, but sometimes they just drive us nuts!
This book will help you explain to yourkids that emotions, that is signals they get from their bodies, are linked tofeelings. These feelings, whether positive or negative, are all perfectly fine, but they can be expressed differently.
This book will also expand yourchildren's vocabulary by offering them different words to express theirfeelings with.
And finally, the book offers hands-onactivities for hours of entertainment after reading.
I hope your kids will enjoy the story.
I feel... EXCITED!

The book starts by explaining to the parent the purpose of the book and defining what emotions and feelings are. Then, there's a fabulous story that illustrates this, followed by short stories at the end for further reading and discussion if desired, which could be done right away or over the course of several days. This is a story you can read over and over again (lots of places for discussion and analyzing while you're reading too!), and one that you can refer to as your child is experiencing strong feelings- "remember when we read...?"
At the end, there's a link to even MORE resources! You can download feelings cards, emotions cards, and coloring pages. All these are great resources for talking about feelings and emotions with your child(ren) and extending this book into a whole unit to help your child learn about feelings and emotions AND what to do as a result. As a teacher, I can see using this book in my classroom with my students, especially since my own children liked the story and it's be a great way to discuss feelings, emotions, and what we DO with those feelings and emotions.
I highly recommend this book for parents of toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary aged children as well as preschool and elementary school teachers. It's a great resource and makes discussing feelings and emotions easier and helps children understand what feelings and emotions are.
Also i liked book had a wide list of emotions ( not just 6 msin ones), which is perfect to initiate discussion with kids and expand their emotional vocabulary.
This book with large, whimsical, colorful illustrations and kind characters will attract kids of all ages. Cuddle up with your little ones and start your exciting journey towards emotional awareness. The book also provides games and other materials for deeper discussions and just outright fun time together.
Highly recommend for family reading, as well as a tool for speech therapists, daycare/school counselors, and behavior therapists.
My own 9 y.o. enjoyed reading the book and pondering whether he gets the same body signals as the main character. He admired the illustrations and even made some of his own. Overall, great buy!
My niece loved it. The initial reading kept us occupied for a good couple hours, and then the self-reflection part is now a fun game we play daily.
Can’t wait to see more books from this author.
I loved the illustrations and the examples used to demonstrate the various emotions and feelings we all experience. This book is ideal for both kids and adults as it teaches adults how to approach topics and simple things we often ignore and don't take the time to explain to children as we're under the impression they'll just figure it all out one day.
The book shows the importance of acknowledgement and communication. A wonderful read that I highly recommend.
