I spent about an hour reading about different head harnesses before trying this one. I have been using it for a few weeks, and I am very happy with it. It is well padded with foam rubber covered in cloth, and the padding is about 1/2 inch thick, so it does not hurt or damage my skin to use it. The hardware is sturdy, including the clips that connect the chain to the part that fits on your head. I use weight plates that have three holes around the sides of them to make it easy to pick up the plates with one hand. These holes are larger than the hole in the middle of the plates. The clips on the ends of the chain are so large that they would not go through the hole in the middle of the plates, but this is not a problem because of the larger holes. But if you are using the old-fashioned plates that have only a hole in the center (and I'm not talking about Olympic plates with a large center hole), you may not be able to thread the chain through the hole in the center of the plate.
A head harness like this makes it easy to work your neck muscles in a way that seems impossible using any other technique.Read more ›
> Sturdy and well-constructed
> Smells like a wetsuit
Overall, I would recommend this to anyone looking for an inexpensive but head harness with a good value.
After 6 months of use. I sewed it back together with 50 lb test microfiber fishing line. Contacted the company after a month, they WILL NOT under any circumstances offer a refund, or let me upgrade to the leather one if I forked over the $ difference.
They were plain rude and uncaring and seemed aware that the product is terrible.
Force is not evenly distributed to both sides of the neck because the unit is not perfectly symmetrical encourages muscular imbalance (very dangerous in the neck)
If you plan on doing more than 50 lbs (I do up to 120 lbs) its a good idea to take a towel and put under the strap to minimize hair follicle damage.
Works great, haven't put it through it's paces yet, just went down and thew the chain through a 45lb plate and did a set of 10 to see what it felt like...should work perfectly since I can feel the same muscles activating that ache after a day at the track, timber, or long road trip on the bike.
Plan on getting my boy using this too as he gets old enough to begin sports to help prevent injury.
