Build strength, tone your muscles, and improve your overall fitness level with the Bodylastics Super Strong Man resistance bands system. Setting the standard in the home gym category, the Super Strong Man system includes everything you need to work your arms, legs, back, chest, shoulders, and abs. The system is built around seven continuous-dipped elastic bands that create more than 94 resistance levels and up to 127 pounds of resistance per side. This versatility means that both grandparents and NFL offensive lineman alike will be able to enjoy a terrific home workout. The bands start at 5 pounds (yellow), with the resistance levels moving progressively upward to 7 pounds (green), 13 pounds (red), 19 pounds (blue), 23 pounds (black), and 30 pounds (two orange). The set also comes with such accessories as four extra-wide foam-covered handles, four heavy-duty ankle straps, and a door anchor that attaches to almost any kind of door. With the door anchor, users can perform more than 140 top gym exercises, or they can perform dozens of others while using the bands freestanding. How effective is the Super Strong Man set? Back before the 2007 football season, Bodylastics sent a few prototypes to the Dallas Cowboys' strength and conditioning coach. Not only did the coach order 10 sets on the spot, but he later ended up ordering enough sets for every player on the team. Ideal for all ages and fitness levels, the Super Strong Man set also comes with one 76-page user book, one copy of Terrell Owens Workout & Diet Guide, one fat-burning circuit-training DVD, and a storage/travel bag. The Super Strong Man resistance band set carries a lifetime warranty.See all Product description

Update...I just got really hurt the other day when the bands snapped back into the back of my neck while doing the laying down triceps exercise. The door anchor piece with attached bands and aluminum clips came flying back at me at about 100 mph hitting the back of my neck when the bedroom door somehow opened. I got hit really hard by the bands aluminum clips to the back of my neck with so much force that it left a bruise and almost broke the skin. I noticed that the screw in metal door latch piece that is in on the door frame came with the inside piece having a little angle to it and it prevented the door knob spring latch from entering all the way. I noticed that the metal door plate had the inside angled on all my other doors as well. The door knob brand was Falcon. I ended up removing the screwed in plate and bent the inside piece until it was completely flat so that the door knob spring latch can enter into it completely. I also attach a beach towel to the top part of the bands when it is attached to the door. I have a huge welt on the back of my neck and it's a good thing I was not facing the bands when this happened as it could have easily detached my retina if I was doing an exercise facing the door. I still love this Bodylastic set but take more precaution when using it. My neck still hurts badly from the hit of the bands powerful force.
It would be a good idea if the company writes in the manual or mention on their website of what type of door knob hinges to look out for or how to adjust if you have this type. It could do serious damage to you and you won't want to find out the hard way like I did. I would advise to always lock your door knob also when doing any of the exercises using the door attachment. If someone opens the door form the outside while stretching the bands on the other side, the bands could easily take out your eye as well. Be careful and check your door latch type before using.
Other than that...I would highly recommend the Bodylastic Set as i use it everyday in my daily exercise. But now with way more caution and a huge beach towel is attached if used with the door anchor. The towel is slow down the flying back bands with aluminum latches in case the door ever opens again while exercising. I'm going to create something better like a pillow attachment with velcro straps later for added safety in the future.
I used to go to the gym pretty religiously. By this I mean about 2-2.5 hours five days a week.
This was back in my twenties when I was single, no children and no one to answer to save for my job and school.
I really do not have the time for the gym anymore. I hate that, but that is life. I let my health slide a bit in terms of activity.
I bought a bowflex seven years ago and that changed everything. I fell in love with it and worked it five days a week again when the kids were asleep or whenever I could, but now I am finding less time.
Enter the bands.
Really, I was so skeptical about these things.
I had used therabands before for super-sets, but never for a full workout.
I had already made the switch from weights and weight-machines to the bowflex so I was already doing resistance training vs. the rip and tear one gets at the gym so I thought...let's see.
Awesome. Really fantastic.
This is not a workout for people who want to work with weights or get "huge" though you will get ripped if you use them correctly and consistently.
These, much like the bowflex, are for lean, strong muscles with less stress on the joints and less "jerking."
You can adjust the weights easily with the two sets of handles provided giving you two sets ready to go for any exercise at any time.
The door anchors work very well. I suggest checking them by hand to make sure that your door supports them.
I also suggest, when anchoring at the top of the door, err on the side of moving closer to the hinge for more stability.
The flavors of band come as follow:
Yellow= 5 lbs
Green= 7 lbs
Red= 13 lbs
Blue= 19 lbs
Black= 23 lbs
Orange= 30 lbs
You can add bands together in order to get different weight combinations and the isometric hold at the top of a rep is quite satisfying.
Again, totally different kind of workout as compared to weights in the gym, but if you are looking for a way to stay fit and strong as well as add versatility/variability into your workout I give these a hardy recommendation.
The discs that come with these bands are good for people who have never used them before and therefore worth the money. Even for me, and I have done similar training, they were helpful.
The book that comes with the set is great. They have workouts put together specific to types of sports (Golf Workout, Tennis Workout, MMA workout etc.) If you go to the back you will find a multitude of exercises so you can put together your own routine.
For those that do P90X...these are fantastic.
They are far less expensive than those sold elsewhere and are just as sturdy. I would challenge any site to say other about these bands. In addition, they come with a lifetime guarantee. Can't beat that.
Now, I can take a mat, my bands, my protein shake and my notebook (to chart my weights) to work and get a full workout in on my lunch hour in my office!
Portable, versatile, challenging, sturdy, fun...so...now what's your excuse :)
This Bodylastics set helped me to get into tremendous shape -- the best shape of my life.
You have to have the right set up for your house though. You'll need a space where you can attach the anchors to a strong door (I'd recommend an exterior door like the front door) and you'll need to be able to go straight out from the door for about 10 feet to have room to do the floor exercises and some upper body exercises.
I have been a "gym rat" for years and like to focus on strength training; I was not sure I would like transitioning to mostly band training with small amounts of dumb bell and machine training sprinkled in, but I am now a believer. The band training is providing fast results with what I call a more functional strength. I feel like instead of just being "gym strong" the bands are helping me to develop more of a "real world" strength. I can feel more stabilizer muscle development and when working out more muscle groups are being engaged in addition to the specific muscle or muscle group I am focusing on.
I cannot say enough good things about the band equipment or the company - just buy any of their equipment and you will become a believer too.
PS: I rarely leave reviews unless I'm extremely satisfied or very unhappy with a product or company.
