I just purchased this and I am useing it on a quilt that I am making. The background fabric is very dark blue and I have to place 409 yo yo's on this and precisely place each one. Other making aids either the chalk just didn't stay in place long enough or the pencil types you had to press down so hard to get the mark on the fabric and sometimes after you ue the pencil type they just get shiny and won't mark. This extra fine mechanical which comes with lots of extra refills, makes the most fine line and just by lightly drawing it. Its the best tool I have ever used for marking.
it is more expensive but well worth the price.
I like this tool so much I just ordered another one !!!

I bought this pencil to draw words, which I then embroider over, on linen fabric. The pencil seems mainly marketed to quilters, but given how glowing all the other reviews are about the pencil's ability to make marks on fabric, I didn't think I'd have any problem. Unfortunately, the pencil lead is quite a bit too hard for my purpose. It takes a lot more force to make a bright mark than I'd like for the health of my fabric. It is a fabulous idea to have a white mechanical pencil, though!

If anyone out there is looking for a pencil that will allow you to literally write or draw on fabric, I suggest Stabilo CarbOthello colored pencils.

Trying to hand quilt on a dark green border and nothing worked. I tried everything on the market and found this to be the best to mark with and stay on the fabric while I worked my way around. The line was fine and I was able to see the detail that I needed. It's more expensive but I feel it's worth it and will keep this chalk pencil.

I make a lot of marking on my fabrics and I've had more than my share of mishaps due to the markings not coming off the fabric. My problem was solved with this, markings easily come off fabrics. Will continue to buy refills.

I use this quite a lot while preparing for quilting a project. I like the thin line that it puts out, instead of the wider lines most chalk pencils make. I do have a couple of problems with the chalk breaking, but that's probably because I am going too fast with my marking. Overall, I recommend the pencil to anyone.

This has become my favorite marking tool. It allows you to make very fine, precise marks on dark fabrics. The chalk is waxy, rather than powdery, and therefore does not just blow away. Yet it can be removed pretty easily with the included eraser or a stiff little brush. You do lose about 1/2" or so of each lead just because that's how a mechanical pencil holds the lead. But that's a small price to pay for what this pencil does for me. I will happily buy refills.
