This is an ultra-small USB port adapter that will add in a 300 Mbps wireless N WIFI system to your computer. The installation into my tower computer took literally 3 seconds as the Windows 7 Professional 64 bit Operating System immediately found the drives and installed them. On Windows Vista 64 bit I had to use the mini CD that came with the product to install the drivers but that only took between 10 to 15 seconds to install. The software recognized the adapter as a Realtek RTL8192CU Wireless LAN system.

Remember that after you install the device you will have to select your WIFI network's SSID and enter in your security password. Using this device I easily and quickly connected to our WIFI and the adapter recognizes and allowed the use of WEP and WPA wireless security protocols. I tested this adapter in a USB 1.1, USB 1.2, USB 2.0 and in a USB 3.0 port on different computers and it installed and worked on all of them. When the adapter is connected to your WIFI the WIFI symbol on the adapter will flash with a blue LED light.

This adapter uses a 2x2 MIMO technology system that has 2 transmit and 2 receiving antennas. This provides a fast data transmission and a transmitting distance of 300 feet indoors and 900 feet outdoors. I love the size of this adapter as it fits into your Laptop and it does not protrude out too far and it helps to keep it from being damaged from catching onto something while you carry the computer. This is a great upgrade to add WIFI to a computer that doesn't have it, add WIFI to a computer who's WIFI has stopped working or to add a faster WIFI to a computer as an upgrade in speed or distance of transmission.

I liked this product a lot. I found it easy to install and add a WIFI to several computers and the installation was very fast.

*UPDATED AT THE END*

This is a super-small Wireless B/G/N Wi-Fi card that boasts some really neat features. It is PC and Mac compatible, and also ran just fine on ArchLinux and ElementaryOS. Bolse sent me a sample of this product, this review is my honest opinion.

THE IMPORTANT STUFF
***This USB Wi-Fi adapter uses the Realtek 8192Cu chip***
- It can be used in ANY USB port
- With 2x2 MIMO it has two receiving and two transmitting antennae
- "Wireless N" means it is fast, up to 300Mbps maximum theoretical throughput

INSTALLATION
On my PC, it was a breeze. Simply run the included mini CD for drivers (and the Realtek program if you feel like going through that, not necessary) and then plug the device again. Of course, Linux was even easier - simply plug the device in and away you go!

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAC USERS
Being a mini CD, the included drivers and not usable in a slot-load DVD drive (take note PC users with one, too). Still, it's an easy process to get it installed! As mentioned, this is the Realtek 8192CU chip, so drivers easily found. A link will be in the comments section of this review, but you can easily go to the Realtek website - it's a bit of a pain to navigate, so look for "single chip" under Wireless NICs. Find the appropriate driver/app for OSX and install. Of course, you'll need internet access to do this (inconvenient) so I recommend having a friend or family member allow you to download the drivers mentioned while you wait for this product to arrive.

I have added links for the drivers for OSX 10.4-10.8 in the comments on this review - they are hosted on my website with permission from Bolse.

This is the real deal, the rare Mac OSX-compliant wireless USB adapter, and it works!

The Mac instructions are not real clear, so here you go. It's easy. Start at a computer that does have Internet access. Just go to the RealTek website (RealTek makes the chip used inside this device) and click on "downloads", then "communications network ICs" then "wireless LAN ICs", then "802.11 b/g/n single chip" devices then select "RTL8192CU" as the chip. Download the driver ZIP file, unzip it, and you will have the .PKG file and some text files. Use a USB memory stick or a CD to get this PKG file to the Mac you wish to install this device on, and run this .PKG file there. The PKG file will install the driver. Then you MUST restart the Mac. THEN plug in this nifty little device (look for blue LED to blink, if not the first time, remove it and plug it again and then it should work). You are all set!

It really is easier than this sounds, I was just being really descriptive of all the steps because it is not necessarily clear.

There is another review here (from TheOBriens- and thanks to them for guiding me as well) that covers this install, but these steps are more up to date vs what the RealTek site looks like at this moment.

My Dell Laptop has good enough reception with my Actiontec router (old, old, old) at home and usually pretty good in public places (you'll see me at Starbucks or Peets looking busy). But when I added the Bolse 300Mbps Wireless adapter, my reception skyrocketed no matter where I was. Anywhere in my condo; behind multiple walls, in public - the reception was perfect. YAY! I've had no disconnections. For the price and the quality, I am very happy with this adapter.

I use Windows 7 and now use this in lieu of my Dell installed Wi-Fi. For the geeks in us, it is `plug `n play (USB 2.0 interface), auto-adapts to Wi-Fi frequencies, does have `soft access point mode' for internet sharing, advanced Wi-Fi encryption (I hate AT&T; another story) and will also work on MAC OS X and Linus (that last part I read on the box). Device supplied for review by manufacturer and man I am so glad.
