Best coffee of 4-5 makers used in my life! Why? Because the water temp is higher than most makers which better extracts the essential oils & flavors. It really does make a difference! Worth the extra $20-$30 if you are a coffee nut. Works best when you grind your own whole beans!! Mine is 4-5 years old now & going strong. Use virtually everyday. Mike in Colorado.

By far the best coffee maker i have ever owned. that is saying a lot. i have owned at least fifty. i did my research on youtube about this, took a chance and don't regret it. keeps the coffee super hot for a long time, personally i don't like hot plates. they're dangerous and often fail with time. i had to always microwave my coffee after the initial first cup. you have a small learning curve with this one though. like being careful with the carafe. it's glass inside, so when you clean it after emptying be careful and make sure the water is warm to hot so you don't break the glass. don't use cold water on hot glass! but it brews very fast....about 8 minutes. makes great coffee. if you are a coffee lover like me and want a great coffeemaker that will keep hot coffee, then buy this one. go on youtube and watch the vids. good luck.

This coffee maker does a great job making coffee. I like that it's very sturdy, simply built, and easy to deal with for the most part. My only complaint is that the pour spout is built into the screw-on lid, not the carafe itself. The result is that you can't pour very well unless you put the lid on. Since I just brew and pour immediately into a travel cup most days, it's an annoyance to have to screw the lid on (and then unscrew, rinse, etc).

If not for the lid being required to pour, I would give this 5 stars.

As I clean up yet another mess from this coffee maker I wonder WHAT MORON DESIGNED IT?

From the too small pour spout that slashes all over if you pour coffee out of the craft too fast, to the poorly designed lid that somehow traps old coffee, only to leak out later, to the poorly designed coffee ground hopper that manages to often leak or plug sending a small river of coffee and grounds onto our counters and floors as we brew coffee, this is a piece of GARBAGE!!

Yes it does make good coffee, but really is that rocket science?? It is hot like others say, but so is my temper when it makes a mess, which is often enough that I decided to write this review. Our floors look like a coffee crime scene from Dexter with splatters all over the place, but the only crime is that we paid so much this coffee maker. I suggest you look elsewhere.

This coffee maker brews the best cup of coffee I have ever had.
I was completely satisfied until today when the carafe exploded.
We have had this product less than two months. It came with very explicit instructions on how to clean the carafe. No soap, only water and soft cloth. Today as I rinsed the carafe with lukewarm water the inside exploded into a million little pieces that flew everywhere. Luckily, no one was injured. Of course I am just beyond the point of being able to return it.

Failed the wife test: This is a nice coffee maker, but it's awkward to use with its separate filter and carafe cap. That's especially true in the early morning when you have to wait for it to be done to get your first cup. Also, you need to juggle the top and filter. My wife preferred going back to old coffee maker. That says it all. The old one had a lousy thermal carafe, but its filter holder was mounted on the coffee maker and the carafe keeping its lid on while coffee was being made and poured. The Bonavita is a nicely built coffee maker with a poor design--at least for our use patterns.

The brewing temperature is proper and it is consistent, the carafe keeps coffee hot for hours, and it is easy to maintain/clean. I also like the fact that it is simple with no bells and whistles as I just needed a great coffee maker, not a clock/programmable coffee maker with a grinder etc., etc. I only wish that it was a ten or even a twelve cup brewer. Bottom line....this coffee maker does a great job and it is definitely worth the money.

One of the two mugs came with a broken handle, and the logo on the cups makes them look like a company give-away type item...but they were sort of a bonus anyway, so it didn't bother me too much.

This is a warning on exploding glass in the thermal carafe. I did a lot of research to replace our Capresso coffeemaker we had for many years. I would have loved to have the same one but alas they don't make it anymore. First, I bought another Capresso and it was mediocre and returned it. Then I read many good reviews of the Bonavita coffeemaker with the stainless steel thermal carafe. So, we ordered it and, while it does not make quite as good strong coffee as the original Capresso, used it almost three weeks. While washing it exactly as described by the manufacturer - just swishing it out with lukewarm water, the thermal glass exploded in my partner's hands and face. I had read isolated incidents of this on the Internet but once it happened I found more than one Web site that has several instances of this.
I would give this a four star for the coffee but have to give a one star because of the dangerous nature of the carafe.
The good news is that Amazon was very responsive and offered a refund immediately.
Buyer beware.
