From the Manufacturer
The error message indicates that the kettle reached the boiling point before reaching the set temperature. This is common in higher elevations, but should not occur in other environments. Please note that this "Hi-Err" issue has only surfaced in a small number of bases from a limited date code range. The date codes can be found on the bottom of the kettle base. The specific date codes that could potentially show signs of this error are 1425, 1427, and 1429. We have replacement electrical bases available that have been confirmed to not produce this error message. Customers experiencing this issue should be directed to complete the warranty claim form at the link below or call 855.664.1252 to receive a replacement electrical base shipped to them.

The kettle is not stainless steel, and the kettle will form rust spots wherever water contacts the kettle.
My particular kettle, in addition to rust spots inside of the kettle, also developed rust and a leak at the base of the gooseneck on the bottom where the gooseneck meets the kettle. It leaks EVERYWHERE, and when tilting the kettle it will leak profusely - which is a great feature considering that it is leaking near boiling hot water on you.
I submitted a warranty claim and it was denied despite the clear manufacturing default. I would recommend fully to save your money ($75 or $99) and spend it on a company that doesn't willfully deceive their customers.
Great performance and speedy boiling aside, the hinges on the lid are total junk, and I have broken two kettles. The lid is triggered to open by a button on the handle, so it's impossible to abuse, but the mechanics are poor and the material is plastic. Bonavita have replaced the first one after 3 months, and have just informed me that the lid is being redesigned and they will be releasing them in November. They will replace my broken one when the new ones come in. The warranty program and customer service from Bonavita have been top notch, and I'm really looking forward to the new kettle.
Waiting for the Seller to respond about another replacement. At this price one would hope for a longer life of the Kettle
It doesn't make any sort of sound when it hits the temp so I often forget about it.
The temp controls are a bit confusing at first to figure out
the gooseneck is perfect for pour overs and controlling the water coming out.
The size of the kettle is very nice
heats up quickly!
Two kettles, date code 1427 and 1429 kettles both have the "HIGH ERR" or "ERR HIGH" problem. This means that the kettle shuts off prematurely when warming up because it thinks you are using the kettle at a high altitude and adjusts the temperature sensor to trip the shut off early. This happens every single time so the kettles never heat up the water to the correct temperature without multiple restarts. The current batch of this kettle must have a faulty temperature sensor.
