Even better, every orifice is explored willing and deliciously unwillingly. This kinky book is highly recommended to erotic readers who want their senses stimulated and their bondage desires satiated." — BDSM Book Reviews

"A sharp, snappy collection, and it has enough talking points to keep you engaged and enraged for a year. These essays are funny, heart-breaking, head-scratching and honest. They’re well-written and have lovely moments of poetry and concise, bone-cutting prose. They’re varied and unique, but unified in their vision for a world with better sex, and better ways to write and talk about sex. Best Sex Writing 2012 is a step in the right direction." — xoxo Reviews

In the introduction to Best Bondage Erotica 2013 I am promised stories not only containing every kind of physical bondage possible, the physical ordeal, but the mental bondage that comes from dark places inside, as well. A full body and soul bondage experience in the pages and I feel that's what I got and more in every couple, triad and downright smells of orgy combination. The couple that hires a professional to teach them Japanese rope bondage, the woman soldier who has to say goodbye to her husband before she's deployed again, and I'll never be able to think the words Passion Party Purgatory without a blush on my cheeks -- ever! All unforgettable!
I must admit that I am a fan of bondage fiction, though my knowledge is somewhat constrained. After reading this book, I felt like I got a welcome education in the various forms of bondage erotica and its different uses. These are definitely some of the best bondage stories of the year.
As I was reading through the book, I found myself drawn not only to my favorite type of bondage (handcuffs), but the idea that bondage could be a therapeutic tool for couples to work through their issues. In "This Is Me Holding You", I got my first glimpse of how bondage could be used in such a way. The same idea came up in "Steadfast", with its change in power dynamic and helping each partner get what they needed in order to heal. Interestingly, looking back, both these stories also incorporated the use of the military into that need for bondage therapy, too, so it was great to see that explored.
While I went in thinking I'd get the usual glimpse at erotic bondage, I came out with a new interest in furthering my exploration in all the ways bondage can be used. If you're a fan of bondage fiction, or want to know more about it, this is a great book for you!
Not only are these stories incredibly sexy, they are wide-ranging in the types of bondage used. With each depiction of events the reader can see why bondage is used and how it enhances and drives the sexual experiences the characters have. It is through this approach that the reader can appreciate why people utilize bondage, even if the reader decides it is not for her/himself. Since the tales steadfastly include consent, explanations and often the characters' inner dialogues during the experiences, it presents bondage in a thoughtful and safe way that caters to a diverse audience.
Since these bondage tales test a variety of fetishes, I should not have been surprised to find one primary story extended my scope of what scenarios I find incredibly erotic. Logan Zachary's "Passion Party Purgatory" told a tale of several heterosexual men being restrained and teased in front of one another by a male. Initially these men are afraid, but it turns out (surprise) that their experiences are hugely satisfying in ways they may have never even dreamed of before. Believe me, this was hot. Plus it's only one of 22 bondage tales. There is something for everyone in this book, I think.
As Graydancer and Rachel state right off the bat, bondage offers freedom to those who seek it. I think this anthology will provide the curious reader a bit more tools to add to her/his creative imagination, not to mention bedroom, dungeon, and the like.
I've really liked the other books in this series and other books edited by this author. This one felt like a let down to me. The main issue I had with it was the lack of diversity in this edition. The vast majority of the stories were about females being in the bondage situation. I prefer stories in which a woman is tieing up a man, and there were only one or two of those in this entire book. That might not have mattered as much if the quality of the stories had been better, but I felt like the writing itself was not up to the usual standards. I was quite disappointed.
Covering a wide array of perspectives, Best Bondage Erotica 2013 surpasses expectations of rote descriptions of different knots, positions, or struggling against one's bonds. The book collects a fantastic selection of short fiction that explores the emotional resonance of having one's physical freedom taken away -- or taking it away from one's partner.
There's a theme running through the book reflective of our age, that of the military and the loss of one's loved one to foreign wars. One talks of a partner about to go off to serve while another has a partner who isn't quite themselves when they return. Both are touching and heartfelt. It's the rare book -- especially one with a central theme of bondage -- that can make my cry or get me horny from page to page.
I read this one from cover to cover. There are no clunkers in the bunch. Each story holds a new, inventive, and exciting adventure. Highly recommended.
