Product Description

Bare Bones bone broth is slow-simmered for 24 hours to extract maximum flavor and nutrients. Available in 5 culinary-inspired flavors and perfect for cooking & sipping. Naturally rich in collagen, amino acids, vitamins and minerals, REAL bone broth is an incredibly versatile food that's been used in cultures around the world for hundreds of years. It can support gut health, digestion, skin, hair and nail health, and so much more, adding serious flavor and richness to your favorite recipes!

Not All Broth Is Created Equal

Packaged broth and stock has long been a commodity. It has been produced using the cheapest ingredients and production methods possible. This means using bones from factory-farmed, conventionally-raised animals that often live in confinement on drugs and antibiotics. This is detrimental to the animals, the land, and ultimately to us, as the end consumer. Bone broth was created as a way to reinvent the way this mass produced commodity is made, and it all starts with the ingredients inside.

Ethically-Sourced Ingredients

Each of our ingredients is locally sourced in the USA. We start with the collagen-rich bones, joints and cartilage from organic, grass-fed and pastured animals sourced from small family ranches that raise their animals humanely on open pastures. They never receive antibiotics or hormones, and are raised humanely in accordance with the principles of the Global Animal Partnership. We only use fresh vegetables, herbs and spices from organic, non-GMO farms. We never use artificial ingredients, preservatives, or additives.

Traditional Slow-Food Cooking

We honor the rich culinary traditions of stock-making through cooking, not food science. This means absolutely no broth powders, pastes, natural flavorings, sugars, yeast extract, or any other highly-processed ingredients. Instead, we take REAL food ingredients, combine them with filtered water in a steam kettle, and slow simmer for 24 hours to extract maximum flavor and nutrients. We use steam instead of fire to preserve the flavor, collagen, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals that are extracted during the long cooking process.

Sustainable Packaging

After cooling the broth, we package it in our proprietary spouted pouch and use steam pressure to protect and preserve the flavor and nutrients. This process eliminates the need for preservatives, acids, or additives. Our packaging is BPA, Phthalate, and PVC-free, sustainable, and uses 90% less energy and raw materials to produce and transport as rigid plastic and glass containers.

Pure Nourishment

Organic, Non-GMO, Gluten Free, Hormone Free, Antibiotic Free, Certified Paleo, Whole30 Approved, Ketogenic, and free from heavy metals with no added flavorings and no preservatives.

The Ultimate Kitchen Staple

Bone broth has many uses, making it one of the most versatile foods on the planet! You can warm it up and drink it on its own as a nourishing beverage or use it in savory recipes like soups and stews to replace water, stock, or broth. Whether you're cooking or sipping, you'll reap the flavor and nutritional benefits of a traditional REAL bone broth!

About the Startup

Meet The Founders

Ryan and Katherine Harvey live in San Diego, California with their two dogs, Murph and Grace. When they're not hard at work running Bare Bones, you can find them backpacking in the High Sierra's, taking the dogs to the beach, cooking up something delicious, or getting a workout in at their local gym.

Broth

How did you come up with the idea for this product?

As a chef, Ryan has always loved the process of cooking and the results it yields both in quality and flavor. In professional kitchens around the world, stock is a culinary cornerstone. To stay nourished during his long shifts in the kitchen, he would sip cups of chicken or veal stock. It quickly occurred to him that ALL of the packaged broth and stock on the market was nothing more than salt water, made from conventionally-raised animals, powders, sugars, pastes and natural flavorings. This traditional slow-food has been reduced to nothing more than a useless commodity that lacks the flavor and nourishment that can only be achieved through the process of slow-simmering REAL food ingredients. So, Ryan set out to reinvent stock and bring the farm-to-table approach from the restaurant to packaged food through a commitment to the craft of cooking, relentless transparency, and farm & animal welfare.

What makes your product special?

Our chef-driven variety of flavors also add culinary nuance and versatility to bone broth's place in the kitchen, making it a healthy replacement for water, or commodity stock and broth in your cooking, or sipped as a flavorful and nourishing daily pick-me-up.
