Robert Brown is an author and former freelance journalist in is mid-forties from California. Having been born and raised in the UK he moved to the US as a teenager with his family where he now lives with his wife and two children.

Robert has always been intrigued by true crime which led in part to his previous career of a freelance journalist writing for local publications primarily about unsolved murders. It was obvious to Robert that his passion for this genre would lead to him writing his first book “Deadly Illusions” in 2017.

Apart from writing Robert loves to spend time with his family and to indulge his other passion of the great outdoors. Having been raised in the UK it’s no surprise that Robert is also a keen anglophile which is also reflected in his writing.

Robert has a unique writing style that uses both his UK and US backgrounds that creates stories that can be enjoyed by readers on both sides of the pond. Keep an eye out for further publications from Robert soon.

This book is the story of British serial killer Dennis Nilsen. Dennis Nilsen was on a killing spree from 1979-1983, murdering at least 12 young men. He was one very disturbed sick man. Nilsen lured young, gay men to his home and then he would plie his victims with alcohol and food before strangling them. Dennis would then bathe and molest this victim. He would then dress them sleep with them and talk to the corpses before finally butchering them.
The book gives you some very good insight into why Dennis continued his gruesome killing spree, and even if like me you have read about this killer, I found that Robert Brown delves further into the killer's crimes and gives a very good insight into Nilsen’s thinking and feelings he had about the horrific things that he had done.
The book is very graphic but also showed the vulnerability of his victims. if you are a fan of true crime, you will enjoy this book A good read well researched. I am part of the ARC group for Wildblue Press and BookSirens and I am leaving this review voluntarily

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written serial killer book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great serial killer movie, PP presentation, or better yet a mini TV series or even a documentary (True Crime; American Crime Story). There are no references, works cited, or endnotes so I will only rate it at 3/5 stars.

An enjoyable read if books about such subjects can ever be described as enjoyable. I do find them fascinating, trying to work out why some horribly treated in childhood turn inwards, while others turn so violently outwards. There will always be those people we will never understand I guess??

The details of his crimes are told to the police because he wanted them to know what he did. There are times when I was reading this book that I had to stop because it was to detailed.

Are any published works these days proof read? This book was extremely irritating due to the poor grammar, copious spelling mistakes and muddled sentences. There were also far too many Americanisms used for my liking particularly as this book was about a British serial killer. If you can ignore the mistakes, the book is mediocre at best. Personally I would not recommend this book and was so pleased I hadn't parted with money for it.

I put one star because I couldn't put less.
Taking advantage of Dennis Nilsen's name to sell his book, the author wrote what clearly is a really poorly written fanfiction. The known facts about the case aren't reported in an accurate way, and Des's character is totally different from who he seems to be if you read about the actual events.
"Bonfire Bodies" is just the story of a (not credible) always horny man who kills teenagers to have a climax within seconds, says very cringy phrases and hears voices. Do yourself a favor and buy a real accurate book about Dennis Nilsen.

Graphic and gruesome account of a deranged serial killer

I enjoyed this book. It's very short but extremely graphic and gripping. It has lots of gruesome detail about Nilsen's awful interaction with his victims after he killed them, both sexually and in terms of living with their corpses afterwards for months on end and the problems he encountered disposing of them. A strong stomach is required. This is the reality of true crime with lots of shocking details that the newspapers always leave out because it would be too much for people to handle. A part of Nilsen felt revulsion at his serial killing but he simply couldn't stop. Until he was stopped. Removed from loneliness, drink and the opportunity to kill young men he was a model prisoner for the remaining 35 years he spent in prison.

There is one sentence in this book that states that Nilsen was "soon" called the British Jeffrey Dahmer by journalists after his arrest. But that was in 1983. Dahmer wasn't captured until 1991. Soon?
