There are two schools of thought on sealing a tree or shrub after pruning: 1, do it; 2, don't do it. I have always thought of it as depending on the extent and size of the pruning. I pruned a small tree recently that had gotten Sandied. It had some broken branches, and I did a major cut back on it to fix and reshape it. There were numerous prunings and some rather large ones, so I decided to seal them to conserve sap. I had used various products in the past, including roofing cement, with good success. Having just moved in the past year, I had none of my old standbys, so I ordered this. It has a very god consistency: flows well, but also stays in place. I was able to pour it down into a vertical split that I was not able to clean out and close. I am more than satisfied.

Seals tree limb cuts very well..stops the "bleeding" very quickly..good product. Best to use immediately after the cut. Keep it at room temperature if possible as it will get thick.

I have a small maple tree that has not been doing well since we moved to our house. This year, it dropped its leaves in the middle of summer, and that's when I noticed a section of the trunk that was cracked and exposed. (My more knowledgeable neighbor suggests that this may have been a site where the tree was grafted onto another tree's root ball.) I patched up the trunk with the sealer and the tree put out new leaves and seemed healthier for the rest of the season than it has for the last few years.

I liked the way you can brush the sealer on compared to using a spray can. It goes on where you need it without the issue of over spray going on the plants foliage. I also used the sealer on a crack on the bottom of one of my patio planters, and it seems to have done the trick in sealing and stopping the spread of the crack.

This product easy to use and covers all of the area of trunk or other stems that are cut off. You just open can and brush in the can . No mess and thin enough not to drip over can and area you work . Great price.

You invariably end up wasting a lot because it's like a goopy nail polisher for your trees. It's a bit too runny so you have to apply additional coats. Finally, because it's like the annoying PVC joiner compound, it's easy to get the lid stuck to the container because of the contents themselves. It's all around been deprecated by spray sealants.

Got it for my Mom, she is into gardening. Every time she trims the branches , she uses pruning sealer. As it dries it protects the cut. We had a heavy rain for two week straight and the sealer hasn't been washed away. It prevens parasites from penetrating and rotten the tree. Highly recommended by my Mom! When you order, it shipped by ground and some of the sealer could sip through, but it's not a big deal. We used it for over a year and none of the treated branches have ever got infected or rotten. One the other hand, Pruning Sealer is back and very thick, dries within hours. If you get it on your hands, wash it with rubing alcohol and soap! One more thing is to use a paint brush to apply sealer on cuts.
HAPPY gardening folks!

If your trimming back somethings outside you NEED to put this on the stems where you cut. It will keep those pesky bugs out of the cut spot and your plant will focus on growing instead of stressing out from dealing with unwanted parasites. We have used it for years and it is the best.
We purchased this product at the full price and I wanted to tell you how good it is.
