I've been taking care my yard of 10,000 sq ft bermuda for seven years now. Many wars with the weeds. They come, I kill, they come back. And so it goes. However, one thing I've learned is that for all the different brand labels out there (Ortho, Bayer, etc.), there are only a handful of herbicides actually used: Mainly Discamba and 2,4D. This product utilizes both weed killers but with 2-3x the concentration than its competitors. The results speak for themselves: Most all weeds showed obvious signs of dying in 48 hours and the clover (which is particularly aggressive this year) turned yellow too. Make sure to really move fast while applying this product as it releases quickly from standard hose-attached sprayers. Final note: It rained heavily about 75 minutes after application and Bonide, true to form, still did its job. 9.5/10.

Followed the dilution directions and the product had very little impact on the chickweed. It did not kill it as advertised. I waited two weeks and applied a higher concentration, increasing the concentration by 40%. After several days some of the chickweed began to turn yellow. The clover shriveled up but stayed green.
It definitely will not treat 5000 square feet effectively as advertised. After two applications most of the chickweed in my yard is doing fine. Final box score: Chickweed 2 --- Bionide 0

Update: Bionide knocked out every weed in the backyard! Just gotta be patient. It took 6 weeks to really see the results. Next time I'll put it on earlier.

Slowly making headway against the clover contamination...

I am not a proponent of chemical solutions for the lawn but the clover in mine were laughing and cheerily breeding despite applications of corn gluten meal, so I tried Bonide's Chickweed, Clover and Oxalis killer. I applied it in the backyard first when my dogs were away for boarding for a couple of days, mixing it in an approximation of the recommended amount (which I believe is 3.25 oz. per 2.5 gallon sprayer; I used 3 oz. in a 2 gallon sprayer). After about a week a few of the clover patches had shriveled and turned yellowish, but the majority were still green and laughing at my efforts. So for the front lawn I mixed 5 oz. per 2 gallons and absolutely DROWNED the clover. This produced noticeable results, with many of the clover shriveling and turning yellow, and, more importantly, the flowers disappearing (to stop further spread). So I will finish the side yard with that concentration ratio and hope for lasting results...

Does a beautiful job controlling clover and wild violet!

I had tried various Ortho products to control the clover and wild violet that had taken over my front lawn. Last fall I even resorted to using Roundup to take out the wild violet. It worked, but it also burned out the surrounding grass as the Roundup made its way through the vast root system of the weed. (I just put small drops on the cupped leaves, and still it took out the grass.) So after seeing a blog comment that Bonide works on wild violet (my primary weed problem), I bought a 16 oz. concentrate mix. The results are fantastic on both the clover and the wild violet. It actually kills it off faster than Roundup. I just ordered another four 16 oz containers to finish them off!

Weak 2,4-d Amine

Just about all broadleaf lawn weeds can be eradicated with 1 of 2 different herbicides, if not both. But you have to ID the weeds to determine which herbicide will kill it/them. You also need to know which herbicides are appropriate for which grass types.

We had numerous broadleafs in our fescue, front different from back, and began a year-long treatment plan comprised of Southern Ag's full strength 2, 4-d Amine herbicide mixed with Ortho Weed B Gone's triclopyr herbicide. Applied in a 4 gal. backpack sprayer 3x year, it did the trick...all but a small patch of clover in the front and a pernicious tiny patch of wood sorrel in the back. But that mix killed about 90% of all our weeds.

It's important that your grass and its roots are healthy or you are wasting your time and money; invasive weeds will find those weak, bare spots again and again. So, we also aerated, overseeded and added a thick layer of topsoil in fall to get the grass healthy and better able to then handle seasonal weed treatments, crabgrass preemergent, Milorganite fert + Ironite.

Kills Charlie but you gotta be in it for the long haul

This does eventually kill Creeping Charlie, but make sure you are patient, which if you're anything like me is difficult, as you wait nervously to see if it will take over the entire yard and perhaps the entire neighborhood and then the entire world. I think it took about a week to see results, maybe a bit longer. I've done three applications as well, but that might have been because I was just using a standard spray bottle, so I might not have gotten it as evenly applied as I should have. So far it has died in some areas but has been more stubborn in others (just sprayed again this morning). But I blame evil Charlie, not the product. Works way better than what my local store had available.

Killed my clover in a week. I attached a before and after photo after spraying the herbicide taken 6 days apart in august 2016. The grass is a little bit sickly looking, but it is what was left over after the rather large clover patch died. The grass recovered shortly thereafter. I had much more success with this than a general purpose broadleaf herbicide. My main weeds are clover.

I read the reviews and purchased this specifically for clovers. my yard was infested with clover's. I applied two applications. I used 4oz per gallon of water. I waited ten days and the clovers were about 50% gone. then per advice from Reading the reviews I added a tablespoon of baby shampoo to the mix and sprayed. the clovers are all gone. I stillhave violets. They are turning yellow but they are still there after three weeks. I might finish off my application for this but I'm not too optimistic. Anyways I got this for clovers and I did the job.

Pretty effective over the first season of use. Almost eradicated that year's clover (combined with scarifying and aeration to assist the grass to fill out where the clover had been). However, there is more clover coming through this season. Hopefully, annual use will deal with the new growth each year and if I get out there a bit earlier in future there will be less and less each time! Slightly confusing mixing volumes until you realise that it is not so much the percentage of product-to-water that matters, but rather the volume of product distributed over a known area of grass that is important.
