I liked the rest of the series better than I did the books with the book babes. I just had difficulty connecting with them as it felt like the series should have been 3 parts of 1 book. That being said. I did read all of them and enjoyed it in the end. I laughed and cried with the characters. I would definitely read them again.

I really question why this book was even considered a part of the series, because other than naming a new character to the sweet grass family and briefly summarizing the encounter,,,,it focused on several totally unrelated families in total chaos and conflict throughout the entire book. I did not enjoy this book at all, and it was the most expensive purchase in the books I have read by J Brashear thus far.
I hope the next one is more in line with the previous books and gets back to the little town that is such a treasure.

I have read every book in the Texas Heroes series up to this point and all of them have been fabulous! I expected nothing else but the same upon starting this trilogy, other than knowing there were going to be no mentions of anything familiar other than introducing Michael Cavanaugh into the fold and his connection to Ian McLaren. However, I have NEVER been so disappointed in a trilogy of books. I kept thinking of ways that some of the people of the past stories could have been mentioned (ie: Devlin Marlowe could have been the PI Michael used to track down Ian), just SOMETHING to tie in the past to the future other than the brief intro of Michael/Ian.

Also, these 5 women are some of the most selfish, self-centered, helpless women I've ever read about. Their stories added absolutely nothing into anything about what I cared about (Michael's intro and how he'll play into future stories). The ONLY reason I even kept on reading was thankfully they were short books, but I wanted to see how he and Laken came to be, knowing they would be featured in the next book. The other 4 women's stories were all over the place, and added hardly anything to Laken's story. It would have been much better if it focused more on her and only used the background for the others. More than once I wanted to just shake each of the other 4 women for being so stupid. Laken's conflict was fine, but since the majority of the focus was on the others, I didn't feel as connected to her as I have the other women in the past Texas Heroes stories. I am so looking forward to getting back to Sweetgrass Springs were things and people are familar finding out how Michael and Ian begin to live as brothers.

A great concept of having women in a book club and how their lives intertwine making then stronger well you'd think so but cracks begin to show in their relationships and its heartbreaking. Gripping drama and tear jerking romance. Can we have it all or is there an ultimate price to individual success. This plays so close to home it's untrue as it explores how fragile love is and how easily it can be destroyed. I cried a river. Beautifully written story. It's why this author is a favourite. Her stories are so moving

This series confused me at first, there was so many characters after my attention. And I wondered if I could get them sorted. But believe me, keep going, once you have them all straight the series drags you in with all the different dramas going on. Till the end when a tragedy brings every one and their lives back into focus. Just loved it.
