This is an excellent book for anyone who owns or is contemplating owning a female dog. It's packed with information covering every aspect of the female dog including purchasing, prenatal care, whelping, care for the pups until they are eight weeks old, female dog anatomy, etc. in simple, easy to understand language. This is one of the best books out there on female dogs.

this is a great book for any breeder. There's always something you may have forgotten and something to learn. The information is very easy to understand. I bought this for a friend in rescue who was new to whelping puppies. Rescues take in pregnant mothers or they will be euthanized as soon as they go into labor. My friend's rescue had a litter of 12 so this book was invaluable all through raising the puppies.
I also used this book when I was breeding and showing dogs. I gave it away when I retired.

I was pleasantly surprised by the colloquial English used in the book. Some areas of whelping appeared more difficult, but were made understandable to the layman. I especially enjoyed the English colloqialisms in the book. The authors definitely give enough information so that the first time breeder knows what to look for in the puppies, the delivery, as well as the selection of the bitch, the stud, and what can happen in each phase from pre-breeding to the sale of the puppies.

Didn’t get the newest edition, which is annoying as that’s the picture advertised. Also, if you’re in the R+ world of dogs this book recommends things outside of that scope, so you may want to skip quite a bit. Some information is good though, not a useless book but I wouldn’t gift it. (Maybe the newer edition is different but I got the “lab” one.
