True confession: I have not completed the entire process yet. I got distracted, life happened, and I found it quite daunting. I am now in the process of regrouping while trying to come up with the money to get accepted into the actual program.
Does the book encourage you to use the authors' services? Not directly, but if you are serious about writing a book and at a total loss as to how to go about doing so, you might consider hiring them to help you. If you choose not to use their services, but want to use their method, there is probably enough material here to help you follow the method, though I think there could have been more explanation on that. (I'm hampered at giving an unbiased opinion here because I had already heard the webinar, which gave me a very clear picture as to what the Book in a Box method was all about.) If you are a writer, you may not need to follow the method described here, but you will likely benefit from using the questions shared to help you identify the what and why of your book and to help you organize it.
After reading only 27% of this book on Kindle device, I was able to realise what I want to write about, who is my auditory, what is the goal I want to achieve, and what I have to do for it.
I had a ready book structure written in 1 day, and by the time I'm writing this review, I'm half way to publishing my own book. Isn't that amazing? After 2 years of no result, I'm finally able to do that.
This book is going to be more than just information: it's your trainer. Follow exactly what it says, make all the notes.
Make a Word file with all the questions mentioned there, and fill it with answers about your book. It's basically formula.
I want to thank authors so much for providing this information. This book has value of thousands of dollars, yet given for an extremely low price.

At one point our authors tell us that 'the Romans died' (what all of them), this must be news to the Byzantium Empire. They tell us that it took Europe over a 1000 years to get its act together because 'the Romans never wrote anything down', so what are the 'Vindolanda tablets' then.
This book sounds like a 3am idea made flesh.
But it will give you plenty to laugh at.
I would suggest this book is aimed at the non-fiction end of the market, for busy business owners who want to write a book promoting themselves, their business or their products. I don't feel the Book in a Box Method will really work for aspiring fiction authors as the method lacks the creativity required for fiction content.
Which means that many authors will already know these workarounds especially if they are into saving themselves time and money which is what it is ultimately all about.
From a practical perspective, the cover is well designed, the book is written in an engaging and topical way and it does exactly what it says on the tin. I picked up the book expecting a few golden nuggets myself as I've just started on my second book, but was left feeling a bit empty in that area hence why it's only 4 stars.
For someone who hasn't written a book before I think this is an ideal starting point - but this doesn't work unless you ARE disciplined enough to put some time and effort into writing and publishing a book. That's the hard bit!
The Book in the Box method genuinely reaches out to folks who know a tonne of stuff, or maybe just have a great idea, but aren't sure how to get it out of their own head and heart and onto paper and in front of their audience. Book in a Box addresses that from the 'get go'. In fact, personal aside, I'd been struggling with two books myself and in working through the common-sense but not necessarily obvious exercises for non-writers, realised with some surprise that I didn't want to write these two books. Ha! I just saved myself another year of heart -ache and self beration and can actually turn my attention to what I DO want to write - and with a clear road map and conscience on how to achieve that.
Better still, there is a clear step-by-step process on how to go from idea to finale - and it's not difficult either. That's not to say there isn't work involved, there is! But a hell of a lot LESS work involved than floundering around *hoping* at the end you'll have something comprehensive and cohesive. This process, if followed, clearly ensures you will have. Simple but genius (as genius often is, once understood)
One thing I would counsel is that this is for non-fiction writers (or wannabe writers - go for it!)
If you're looking to write fiction but like a road map, I'd recommend the Snowflake Method as a starting point.
So, if you've a book inside you, some serious information that the World really could benefit from or should know about, The Book In a Box method is a damn good place to start.
Its based on the book in a box process which involves people dictating the core ideas and stories and a writer writing it.
The book goes through the process and allows you to ask those questions to yourself.
I found it a very useful tool to help me focus and define a clear outline for my book.
Its a bit like getting advice from someone who has already written a book, giving you some hunts and pointers
