This little book should not be underestimated for two reasons. First of all, there are so many games, that you are sure to find a couple that click with your interest whether by theme or difficulty level. Secondly, it promotes an activity that has a visceral joy: handling real physical cards and interacting with real people in real time.

At a recent family gathering, we played several games from this book with nephews, aunts and uncles. The games "Spit" and "Beggar They Neighbour" were the top favorites, with the latter getting the most plays. Spit is a real-time game requiring quick-response (like a shared solitaire), while Beggar is totally luck (no decisions) yet somehow evoking a sense of tension and triumph.

I would only recommend this book for younger kids. My daughter is 8 and most of the games were not to her liking - to young and basic.

My son got this as a birthday gift, and he loved it so much that we've given several as gifts since. When he got this, he was 5yrs and his little brother was 3yrs. The book contains a great variety of games, so we were able to find a few that they could play together - without needing a lot of counting skills, etc. WAR kept them busy and giggling for a long time. But, the other games will grow with them. We sent one to their cousin when he was stuck in the hospital for a few days to keep him from getting too bored. The large cards are sturdy and easy to read.

my sons + i love this book and card set. the book has easy instructions for many games i've never even heard of, as well as old favorites. the cards are big in the hand, which is a wee bit annoying, but they are color-coded for each suite, which is great for young children who have a hard time with differentiating the symbols.

Th book seems to cover a good assortment of games for kids. I gave it to my son for my two younger grandchildren (just-8 grandson & almost-11 granddaughter). The oversize cards I am keeping at my home for any younger children that happen to visit...

I have had this book for years having purchased it for my grandchildren when they were younger. Recently my neighbor had her grandchildren here at the beach and they used it. So, this purchase was made by me for two of my neighbors. It is great for children.

Useful, as we try to invite kindergarten age grand wonders to play fun card games. One son & grandson used it on an Amtrak ride from California to Colorado to visit "the other" grandparents!

WoW, this book has been great! I got it for my seven year old daughter. It is easy to read and the directions written very clearly and simple. It's so much fun watching a child learn a new game .
