Ok, everyone says it’s big , no , it’s Thick ! 2 1/4 in , and heavy . You won’t be pooping it in your purse to sit and read in quiet moments . It takes some concentration. You can’t skim it . It was not what I expected . I was wanting a simple prayer book . Wanted to compare service order etc tol the Catholic Church . It is a fantastically liturgical book . If you are wanting an inspirational simple prayer book, skip this. You will need an understanding of Protestant terms . If you want to study the service order of the Episcopal . Church , here ya go ! Also side note , if there is an apocalypse, there are 5 people left , you have this book , you will be appointed the new preacher .

A wonderful book!! I have had this Book of Common Prayer for some time now and am just learning how to use it because of the class at church on devotions. The Pastor started off with teaching on the use of the Common Book of Prayer. I had no knowledge how to utilize this marvelous jewel, however, it is far easier than one would imagine. I am looking forward to using it much more often. This book is larger because it comes with The Psalter, or Psalms of David also. This makes it a larger size book. I prefer this because the text size is larger. I was able to see the beautiful leather bound BCP my Pastor has and envied it until I think of the very tiny print. I prefer to have something a little bigger so I can see the print and read it much more easily. This is still a pretty book and has all the necessary things included. And considering the price, come on, you can't go wrong.

The description of this Book of Common Prayer highlighted that, unlike the other choices, is pocket size. When I received my order, I felt sure that I had either received the wrong order or had accidentally ordered the wrong book. I then read the reviews, most of which indicated that this book is, indeed, not what one would think when you hear "pocket size." Wish I had read the reviews before ordering. The good news is, and this is why I shop Amazon, because I indicated that the item was not as described, I received a full refund and was allowed to keep the book. So, I gave this item 1 star for not being as advertised, but 3 stars for Amazon's customer service and return/refund policy. I'll continue looking for what I want.

I am a Methodist who just loves the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer. I know, that sounds strange, but it has been a great comfort to me during the Season of Lent, and will always be a part of my prayer life. Our children are Episcopalian so I was familiar with the beautiful prayers before buying one for myself. This is a large book (the same size as my bible), easy to read, and really surprising that it could be offered at such a low cost it . I love the fact that it is paperback because it is so easy to hold and use.

This is the complete and current Book of Common Prayer, but it is NOT pocket sized. It is, in fact, larger than the pew edition you are likely accustomed to. AND the formatting is such that the page numbers do not agree with the pew version. Having said that, I do not see either issue as a negative. This is a very nice paperback edition of the prayer book, with quality paper and easy-to-read type. If you want a copy of the prayer book to use at home, or even to take to church with you, don't sweat the page numbering. You won't beat this price!

I bought this because I wanted something to take on my travels, but as it turns out this book is like twice the size of a typical pew-edition BCP. The description doesn't specify which version of the BCP this is, but it is in fact the 1928 Episcopal Church BCP. If you're looking for an actual pocketable BCP (and are looking for the 1979), I would highly recommend the 1979 "Economy Edition" with the black imitation leather cover instead of this one, which is actually small and is of very high build quality.

I would only recommend this if you just want a copy of the 1928 BCP that's dirt cheap. Otherwise, there are much higher quality options for the 1928 out there.
