The Book of Forbidden Knowledge: Black Magic, Superstition, Charms, and Divination Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 6,992 ratings

This work is one of a number of manuscripts crafted towards the end of the 1800s well into the 1920s containing material related to all aspects of the occult; mesmerism, ceremonial magic, the black arts, talismans, and more. What is interesting, here, is that all of the above and more are contained in one work, instead of separately.

Speaking of everything from fortune telling to folk healing, the Book of Forbidden Knowledge is perhaps better classed as a modern grimoire than most contemporary works of similar origin; the paper covers of any of a number of competing Victorian and Edwardian era titles.

Second Editions are awesome.

Second Editions are awesome.
There's something to be said about works revisited, a physical way to see how an author has progressed over time. While some may consider them as a callous cash grab but even if you own the former work it could be interesting to see a side by side comparison.

It is all about folklore. Nothing dark about it. I wouldn't do most of the things written in the book because it was distributed as a gag/humor book. So, don't try rubbing nettle or brandy in you eye for better eye sight and etc. It just wouldn't be wise!
I enjoy researching history but this book was printed as a haha funny thing not magic dark illuminati thing. It isn't a witch book or a satanic evil book. Sorry to disappoint those looking for real magic. I enjoyed laughing at some of the superstition pieces and the other funny articles. It took me 30 minutes to read and it will go into my library as humor/jokes.

This book is surprising in the amount of credible information it provides. In some parts the content is a little difficult to fully understand understand but if u can get past that definitely a worthy read

I really fun read. There are several easy activities in there you can do with your kids, and then there are several pages in there that you should never do. But you wouldn’t know about it ,, if you weren’t exposed to it, so it is an excellent learning experience.

This book is not what I expected. The information is very outdated (of course) and somewhat irrelevant to modern times, but so entertaining to read! Many of the suggestions sound like poems written in old english. It's fun to sift through. There are definitely some gems of information throughout the book. (It's very thin, so not a lot of pages.)

Full of so many obvious superstitions and little spells to invoke which gives an insight into the basic desire to try and control one's 'fate'. There are many generalizations regarding good luck or bad luck dates for each month or day of birth. I'm giving this to someone for off-the-wall amusement. It's like a bit of history. Love the look of this little black book that originated over 110 years ago. It's a curiosity item.

Great book not to be played around with I'm an ordained minister and understand the power and potential hazards of using the knowledge in this book it is not something that should be joked with because it is a very dangerous book in the wrong hands or if not taken extremely seriously you can invite things such as bad luck or worse if misused I bought to research as a minister in gnosis

Non so, a me interessa più Qabbalah, esoteriscmo, alchimia mistica, ermetismo......magia? A ivello SOLO di curiosità e SOLO bianca.
