Do yourself a great kindness and go get yours. Do a friend a kindness and get them one, too! Read and be renewed!
Reading this feels just like you are sitting down with Sarah personally with a cup of tea or coffee talking, laughing, and discussing life and books. My TBR is longer and I feel so excited to get to these books as they truly feel picked out by a good friend, a kindred spirit, a fellow #bookgirl
Clarkson’s writing style is engaging, encouraging, and friendly. I know we are kindred spirits because I feel as if I’m having a conversation with a companion over coffee or tea while I am reading. Her book lists are superb. I have already begun adding books to my ever-growing stack.
Book Girl is a book I will return to again and again for inspiration and encouragement as well as for resources for different stages of life. Bravo!
I am only 25% through the book & I would be willing to pay $16 for the treasures I've discovered already. Sarah's writing is exquisite & she's renewed & inspired me to keep reading for ppersonal pleasure - not just the newest novels but to seek out some classics I haven't read. The book contains timeless lists so I know I'll refer to it as the years go by & my elementary age daughters' (my own book girls) book interests grow.
Moms who have enjoyed Sarah Mackenzie's Read-Aloud Family would find this a great help if they're interested in building a personal reading life aside from reading to their children. If you're not sure where to start, read the first few chapters of Book Girl & choose a novel or two and dive into the reading life!
I especially appreciate the connection Sarah Clarkson makes between good reading and spiritual illumination and growth. Her ability to appreciate good reading as another way to deepen our walk with Christ and to open our eyes to experiencing the joy of our salvation through the written word was rejuvenating. I am so grateful she wrote this book!

The core of this book is numerous reading lists comprised of hundreds of books. (I haven't actually counted, but seriously, it's a lot of recommended reading.) I consider myself pretty well read, and many of these books were old friends. Others have been on my to read list for awhile, and so many are now new additions to the wishlist. There is years worth of reading material to go on with here.
This book is aimed at Christian women (there is a pretty heavy focus on books about theology and Christian imagination), and if you don't fall into those categories, it may not be your cup of tea, but I loved this book so much and highly recommend it.
