Initially agreeing to review Book of Lilith by P.K. Tyler: this twist of the creation story bringing a new dialogue and revising this His in history. A wonderful introduction to this author’s writing from those unfamiliar with her style, is brings a sense of the Joan Osbourne song, What if God Were One of Us to mind in that sort of lilting, wonderful, daydreaming way.
Tyler has a facility with words that build a picture, dot by dot, leading readers to look at situations, people and even their own beliefs in a new way. I love her writing, and am endlessly surprised, often confused but always entertained by the thoughts she germinates in each new release.
Whether you know her writing, or are searching for a new author to discover and add to your shelf – this is a great introduction.
I purchased a copy of the title for my own library. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Engaging and entertaining story set in the Garden of Eden (and beyond) where we meet Adam's first wife (and sister) who defies her appointed place in the world. Well-written look at the biblical origins of inequality between men and women... naturally strong-willed, mouthy, and determined to have what Adam has, Lilith manages to piss everyone off and will have hell to pay. Mild sexual content. I'd have given it 5 stars if she'd of seduced Eve... :P
Originally read this in the Mosaics independent women anthology and it was a standout story among many very good writers. Good job lady...
I am a sci-fi fan who is vaguely Christian, and I learned the details of Christan theology from Catholic school. I liked this short story and found it fascinating but somewhat uncomfortable. This "Book of Lilith" turns the real Book of Genesis on its head. The author starts with the following questions: What if Eve were not the first woman. What if the first woman was immediately faced with disrespect and misogynistic behavior from the first day of her life?
It was very imaginative and a little dark. I suppose that I would rate it to be PG-13. I found the dialogue to be a little to stilted for my taste, but I think the the author made a conscious choice to write the dialogue in the style of that in the Book of Genesis.
I received a free copy from the author in return for an honest review. I was not paid for my review, and all opinions are my own.
