Life is a journey and we will always seek answers. Discussing the questions is a great start and a perfect method for having parents be on the same page as they raise children. Single parents can benefit as well, by considering each question in advance and solidifying what their response will be. I appreciate the way the questions are grouped too - it's a well planned, concise, beneficial read.
As a mother to a 5 year old, I have found this book beneficial by presenting topics we still have not addressed and need to talk about. For example, now that my child is becoming more interested in the computer, what sort of rules and boundaries will I have regarding her computer usage? What will I decide to do when my daughter wants to earn money--should I pay her for doing chores around the house? Lots to talk about and lots to decide, and after we discuss these things, we'll be a stronger family for having done so.
This incredibly valuable book makes this question nearly obsolete for new parents.
When you have children, you will be confused and you will ask yourself this question on a daily basis. Most people turn to parenting books for the answer, but soon learn that most books only answer some of the questions while creating many more.
No two people will have identical parenting styles (no matter how well educated they are or how good a writer). Asking questions of people who have different life experiences from you, while sometimes valuable, will never give you the final answer about what is right for you.
The best answers will come from yourself!
This book gives you the opportunity to begin developing your (ever evolving) answers to the most critical questions now.
The author offers you a gift in the form of insightful and wonderfully useful questions that you are not likely to hear from anyone else.
I have never seen a book like this before, and wish I'd seen it before I became a Mom of two...but it's no less useful now as I consider who I am, as a parent, and what I want to be.
Buy this book for yourself, or as a gift for someone else.
You won't be sorry you did!
