I appreciate that the tips in the book are geared toward an author who doesn't have huge resources and has a do-it-yourself attitude. These are things I can do and are explained in clear and approachable instructions for fine-tuning keywords and categories, building your brand and leveraging social media.
Chapter 5 - Know Where You Are is great--I will try out the tips to analyze my personal traits and channels.
The idea for doing surveys to your audience is golden. Wonder how many of my followers know I have books already? Could they name them? This book even has a sample survey you can send.
Also good low cost marketing tips at the end of the book.
It provides a vital ‘inside’ information on how to re-launch, re-brand and re-vitalize your book.
The trade secrets for authors shared by the authors!!
I highly recommend it!
The highlights of this book for me were:
Ch 4 where I found new ideas about how to market locally.
Ch. 8 with a clear explanation of the various types of editing and how they differ.
Ch. 13 about launch teams—who to ask and what they need to know.
Ch. 14 all about having a book marketing plan. Here, I learned about online book tours and many other marketing ideas, many free.
Ch. 17 with great links (books, websites, book prom resources, and a Facebook group for authors).
This book is full of a wide variety of information, tips, and resources. I especially liked the exercises at the end of each chapter and the two case studies with before and after statistics.
