I rather enjoyed this story, a lot. Ross does what the best authors do, he reflects the impact that others have had on him, but still writes an original story that is gripping, fun, and interesting. Finian is a young boy that we can readily identify with, he lives in a world that we have all imagined and would like to visit or live in ourselves.
The other characters that Finian encounters are interesting, likable, and in their own ways, predictable and unpredictable, as the story calls for it. I found myself guessing the outcome or various plot twists or characteristics along the way only to be surprised I was wrong. This was not because something happened that didn't make sense in the world Finian lives in, but because it was a genuine and pleasant surprise. The ending, especially, is a good one with its own twists and surprises.
After having read the story, as a fellow reader who loves many of the same stories the author loves, I can only recommend it to others and encourage my own children to read it themselves. Well done.
Definite twists in the main plots will keep you guessing until the end of the book. Though not all the answers are given, the book doesn't leave you hanging there desparately waiting for book 2. Though i will purchase it when it comes out.
• The Main character is 12 years old orphan, and has a very hard life, so is Harry Potter.
• The wizards’ tournament in this story called the “Crucible Challenge”, and the boy’s name placed on the list by someone to take part in the tournament, by one of the trusted magic teacher who secretly serves the evil lord.
Every major event that takes place in this story can be found in Harry Potter. The sad think about this author that he has a brilliant ability of storytelling. And this is the reason I given this ebook only one star. Because in my opinion he has the ability to come up with his original idea for a story. By the way if you do not mind the copy cat style, than the story is good well written and keeps you interested till the last page
