i'm glad it's now in my library (though it is not collecting dust) i am still reading it , chapter by chapter, nation by nation
also includes the story about the '7 mountains' ... how God spoke to Loren, Bill Bright, and Francis Shaeffer the same message now challenging us to walk the talk in practical culture influencing ways
It's amazing to see how different nations that are rich and prosperous today have been shaped by God's Word - how God's Word can, in fact, change a nation of poverty and corruption into a prosperous nation. He gives a number of examples of this, and explains how this happened - and can still happen today.
The Book that Transforms Nations is filled with stories. In it, you will read of a young Norwegian who became so convinced of the power of God’s word for every area of life that he skied across his country distributing Bibles to every village and educating his people. Hauge’s radical commitment to God and His word sowed the seeds for Norway’s transformation from the poorest country in Europe to the richest nation on earth.
Cunningham contends that Norway is not an isolated case. He proposes that when a critical mass of people start applying God’s Word to every area of their lives, their nation will be transformed. John Wesley in England, Abraham Kuyper in the Netherlands, Martin Luther in Germany, and John Calvin in Switzerland all started movements of people who used Biblical principles to run governments, businesses, families, churches, newspapers and schools. All of these countries rose from the shadows of poverty and suffering to experience the blessings of liberty. Dramatic transformations like these were not limited to the Western World, but also extended to countries like South Korea, Fiji and Pitcairn. The applied truths of the Bible will change any nation on earth to become more prosperous, more just and more free.
The Book that Transforms Nations goes beyond stories to uncover the foundational truths that unlocked transformation and contrasts them with the evil trinity of corruption, injustice and unbridled greed that bring destruction. The Biblical worldview is paired with examples of key character traits that emerged in transforming nations. The honesty of Japanese, the integrity of the Swiss, and the industry of the Germans all demonstrate that godly character is the key to releasing innovation, development and prosperity.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to change the world. I loved how the book ends with the vision of using every tool at our disposal to take the Bible to every home on earth. Because this book is filled with stories, it inspires hope that any nation can change. That hope inspires action.
I believe that the truths in this book will release a fresh wave of missionaries and nation builders to bring prosperity, life and freedom to their countries and transform them by the power of God’s word.
Don’t miss this book. More importantly, don’t miss the Book behind this book. Learn it. Live it. Become a part of it’s nation changing power.
