Ryan Montgomery has his hands full.
Widower—check.
Single Dad—check
Emergency room doctor—check, check.
When he is on scene at a mass car pile-up, he finds himself mesmerized by the attractive female cop.
Days later, he runs into her again, this time when she saves his daughter.
Now he wonders if he might just have room for something or rather someone else.
Finally, they start dating, but an accident makes him realize that dating a cop could put him right back in a world of grief and loss—a place he barely survived the first time around.
Now, two people who are used to saving others are forced to save themselves: one from a lonely future and one from a broken past.

A new group of #notagang strong women to read and enjoy. Welcome to the Iron Badges.
Ryan and Sadie sizzle across the pages and their fondness for Callie shines through every page. I cannot wait for more in this series.

It only got worse when his wife's parents arrived, and his mother-in-law who was always so, kind tears him a new one. Because he allowed his wife, and her daughter, to continue her career, as a doctor. At that moment, he believes her. He, however, can’t feed into her BS because he needs, to explain and be strong for his daughter. She is a warrior, and champion, all things that show women in strength, and power.
She, however, shows this on a day she is distributed over her backpack being taken home by a friend by mistake. The reason is, her dad's mom who is her sitter, makes her wear dresses. Well, she gets teased at school for it, because she can't do a lot of activities, because of it. So, she now brings shorts, and a top in her backpack, changes at school, and before school, she goes, to meet grandma, she changes back into her dress. See how the missing backpack, poses a problem?
So, she doesn't want, to hurt her grandmother’s feelings so, she runs away. She didn't know what else, to do. Sadie finds her in the candy section, of the 7-11. When they start, to talk she figures out, Callie doesn't feel heard. She is not a dress girl, and it is stifling her. Her role model is GI Jane. And when she does talk, to her dad like Deputy Sadie said to, she finds out her mommy didn't like, to wear dresses either. Making, Callie very happy, and when her daddy said, they would go shopping on the weekend, she was relieved.
What was even better, was when she heard him talk, to her grandma. And, he let her know that she needed, to be her. Her grandma said, yes. He also, told her he would be taking her, and, Sadie shopping. She was beside herself. Sadie helped her find, her very own style. A little GI Jane-ish style, and Sadie-ish style, too. You never saw a happier girl. Which only scared, Ryan’s ex-mother-in-law. Then, all hell started breaking loose. Callie kept talking about, Sadie, and it made it even worse. She was gunning for, Ryan, and, Sadie. Wanting to take custody of Callie.
What a great storyline. Coco was back and had a small but important role. Loved it. Seeing how we like to discount people who are different from the norm. The subject of blended families is spot on in a lot of homes where the children become pawns in a terrible game of war.
I really liked the instant attraction set up of this doc hero's heart going twitter patter upon meeting the heroine. I thought it was sweet he could come across a little shy/bashful when approaching her. Make no mistake though, behind closed doors he was a real tiger.
I haven't read any books of the other series that obviously leak into this one sub-character wise. So at times I felt a little bit like a stranger walking around. among them. I even felt some events were thrown in just to introduce some characters that didn't so much have a reason to be in this book to begin with. I just had to roll with it and try to keep up with who was with who, etc.
There were a few things that I noticed that kind of seemed odd, mostly regarding the hero's kid's antics. But again, what's a gal supposed to do but flow with it, right? Between you and me, I didn't get the title name at all. She didn't make a lot of arrests, folks. Turns out there will be more books in this sequel featuring a very similar title using her female cop friends' name.
Overall, I liked the fact it took this particular leading lady love to pull the hero out of his lifeless love life and try loving again. Yeah, he did truly love his deceased wife and will never forget her, and the heroine seemed to accept it without question. At least his comments regarding her were mostly with the relatives on her side of the family. It felt like he was starting anew with the heroine. The child, of course, was a constant link/reminder, but she also was looking to move on with the heroine as a new mommy figure.
(These comments are based on a purchased copy. This is not a detailed ARC review.)
Ryan is a single father to his 6 year old daughter Callie since his wife passed away four years ago. He is a doctor, so he ends up meeting Sadie at the scene of an accident and she is the first woman he has felt anything for since his wife.
When fate throws Ryan and Sadie together again a relationship develops not only between them but between Sadie and Callie as well. Not everyone is happy that they are together and will do whatever is necessary to undermine their new found happiness and they must decide if the feelings they have for each other are strong enough to overcome the obstacles they are facing.
This author has a way of combining hot chemistry, humorous banter and emotion into a compelling story. The characters draw you in and Callie is a scene stealer. This is the beginning of a new series that leaves you wanting more of this captivating group of friends.

Book ‘Em Sadie is book one in the new Iron Badges Series, and the ladies (and gents) of Orange County Sheriffs Station. Sadie Lazar is a motorcycle deputy, living her dream job day in, day out. Ryan Montgomery is an ER Doctor at Florida Hospital, after becoming a widower 4 years ago, Ryan spends his time either working or looking his daughter, no woman has caught his eye since his wife died, that is until he crosses paths with Sadie.
The story has everything you want and expect from a Danielle Norman Book, kick butt women who can take care of themselves, women you can’t help laughing with, and want to go on a night out with, a hot, single father who will do everything he can for his daughter whilst also perusing Sadie and a storyline that gives and gives. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

I listened to this in audio and also enjoyed the narration.
Sadie is a deputy who rides a motorcycle, she's a strong independent woman which I like in a heroine, she's straight talking and knows what she wants in life.
Sadie first meets Doctor Ryan Montgomery following a car incident when he takes over from her with a dying passenger, despite the circumstances there's an instant attraction.
They meet again when Ryan's daughter goes missing. Ryan is a single widowed father with an interfering mother in law who starts to cause him endless problems especially when he starts to date Sadie, she sees Sadie as a threat to her daughter's memory
A good balance in the story, it's a page turner with drama, hotness and it all leads to a heartwarming hea
An enjoyable story, I will definitely read more in this series with these strong independent women

The characters were outlandish and quirky, but fun. The plot was different but interesting. I had a hard time in some parts but laughed at other parts.
I’m thinking take this book with a pinch of salt, hang on through the tougher bits because it’s mostly worth it.
