I could see this being a nice gift, but I was personally disappointed with it and won't give it to my own child.

I really don't think the intent of the book comes together. Some sections assume an actual interest in reading books, keeping track of books one wishes to read, etc. Other sections seem to negate that assumption. The "mad libs" style "reviews" are just stupid - they offer no opportunity at all to comment on a book. One might as well get an actual Mad Libs collection, as those are better done and equally relevant - which is to say, not.

By trying to appeal to both readers and non-readers alike, this book fails to hit the mark for either, IMHO. It's good as an "it's the thought that counts" sort of gift, but that's about it.
