Game play: This is a classic bounce the ball off of the colored blocks at the top of the screen and continue until you have missed the ball and used all of the balls you have available to you. The blocks are aligned in various formations so the game is changing and not always the same. Some of the blocks contain bonus items like stars and when you break the block the star falls and if you hit it with the paddle you get bonuses. It sounds easy but it is more difficult than you think and enjoyable.
The control of moving the paddle is well done and it does make the game play smooth and fun. Sometimes you get multiple balls falling and the game can have very fast action. One bonus actually makes the paddle wider and easier to use to return the ball.
What I like: The game playing action is smooth and fun to play. The addition of the bonus items either in the blocks or on top of them is fun and it is actually when I miss the ball the most while trying to track all of the falling objects. The game contains no permissions or links to the web.
The graphics are simple and effective and the sounds are clear and easily heard. When you leave a game and go back you get the option to continue the game that you were playing. How many games have we had lately when the developer didn't do this? This is a great feature that should be standard in all games!
What I don't like: I have no issues.
Summary: This is a classic game that is still fun and the developer has put into the game a few twists that keep it interesting. Changing backgrounds, bonus objects, and good controls and changing game action make this game a keeper. I like this game and it is very well designed and implemented. I recommend it to you and for $0.99 it is worth getting and playing as a quick time waster. Size: The size uncompressed is 4.2 MB.
As a huge fan of the original game, a person who has tried all the apps so far - free and purchased, I can honestly say I most enjoy this version. For starters, this game can not be duplicated in exact form when your finger is controlling the bar. This bar moves perfectly with your finger, there is no lag. Still, mistakes will happen, but you have a perfect game you get a free life, so play well in the easy beginning levels and have room for error later. You get stars and Apples for bonus points, faces for an extra ball during that round, multi-colored three balls to release three balls for that round, a free plus sign to increase your bar width. Watch out for the red bad guys. The really neat feature is that what ever color the ball hits, it leaves a tail of that color. Give it a try, it is great for this environment!
Nice brick breaker game play. Simple wth good control and bright colorful graphics also a relatively small file that moves to the SD-card if you want.
My only problem with this game is that it doesn't save your progress. This is the perfect game for burning short bursts of time but unless you set down and devote an hour or better playing it through your going to always start over on the same old beginning levels. Even worse is the fact you'll never play up to your high score potential or have a record score to beat. No save option makes no sense on any on the go smartphone device.
Good looking and nice playing game... uninstalled and 3-stars until the frustration factor is fixed with the ability to save and play through.
I absolutely love this game. Sometimes the game decides that I've missed the ball, stops the paddle while my ball is still in play, puts a ball on the paddle and suddenly I have two balls in play. I hate losing balls unnecessarily since the more you have lined up waiting to play the longer the game will last. This problem doesn't happen on every game but on about half of them. Don't let this deter you though, it is just too much fun to miss out on! And I am sure they will find a fix for it. Karen I am (7/4), still having trouble with this game, only worse. The paddle literally stops moving so I miss the ball and, of course, it still assumes I'm going to miss a ball (even when I have more than one in play) stops the paddle and places a new ball on it. Is there any way to download a newer version or even re-download this version in hopes of not having the same issues???
Wow, this game brings back a lot of memories. I have played many a breakaway clones and playing this reminded me how much I loved them. This proved to be exciting to play and well worth picking up, especially for just a dollar. Word of advise, put your finger at the bottom of your screen, this way you can scroll back and forth and still have a clear look at your block at the bottom. Took me a while to figure this out, the bottom looks un-playable as it shows all your upgrades and downgrades, but play in there. It lets you see the best when you play that way.
Lots of fun, but keep in mind that this is the type of game that really does it for me.
This is really a good rendering of the classic breakout game that we all know of in the early Atari days! and other ported versions on the PC. The game installed perfectly on my Kindle fire and Samsung Tablet and it was an nostalgic experience for me. I loved this game as a teenager and even today I love to play this game over and over again. Endless challenge and fun.
The Blocks classic games control work perfectly and if you are into serious game-play I suggest you use a stylus for better control as your fingers can get all sweaty as you progress into higher levels.
Perfect game, Highly addictive. No permission issues. Worth even penny. Four stars!
