I'm a sucker for stories that are cowgirl/western themed so I jumped onto this novella pretty quickly when I saw the cover. This was a nice, fast-paced Sunday afternoon read with interesting and fun characters. I've read other titles from this author and always find her work enjoyable.

I'm a country girl. Raised in my cowboy boots & hat from as early as I can remember. The majority of my elementary school photos were taken in that classic hat, belt buckle & boots, not to leave out the standard pearl, snap-fronted western shirt & jeans. I spent my free time in the pasture, stroking a colt as it slept sprawled out in the field, soaking up the sun. Even used a few as a pillow as the mare, thankfully, made a point of not stepping on me. I love horses. I love romance & I love intelligent women with a sense of humor. With all that in mind I gotta tell ya, this was a fantastic read. One of my complaints about this genre is many of the stories are too short & yet the price is an average of $10, ebook format. This book was not too short or too long, but at the same time the $1.99 barely seamed enough, considering the enjoyment I got out of the read. The story was good and well-told. The characters likable & believable. The dog names, hilarious & the creative stories behind them, even better. That explanation was just a short little snippet within the whole & yet added so much flare. The story focused more on the romance than the technical side of a ranch & yet what it did touch on in that area was accurate & enjoyable. So even you city folk can enjoy the read without making your head hurt trying to figure something out about ranching jargon, etc...Certainly worth your time & the small fee, even if the cost eventually increases. The love letter at the end was superbly written and gave the most excellent meaning to the title.

For St. Patrick's Day Andi Marquette offered her novella, From the Boots Up, free to readers and I am so glad for this introduction to Marquette's writing. From the Boots Up was a fun romp at a Wyoming dude ranch that had me wanting to get on the internet and sign myself up for a week and I'm not even a horse person. I think it is probably Marquette's gifted ability to bring a location to life through her words and style is what made me start considering such a notion. Overall, the setting of the book was amazing and added another character to the mix as Diamond Rock ranch was a part of Meg and who she was as a woman. Though, there were horses, campfires, trail-rides and even a horse breaking scene, these wonderful descriptions just added to the story of Meg and Gina. The attraction between these two woman was tender, sweet and well developed to have the reader falling in love along with them. It was definitely one of those moments of love from the first sight, and everything following just proving that they were meant to be together. I very much enjoyed this novella.

I was happy to get this book as soon as the author let me know it was up for grabs via kindle. From the beginning the story held my attention. I loved the interaction between the two characters as they danced around their attraction to each other. The names of the ranch dogs tickled me. I was only sad to see the story end when the two women finally consummated their attraction to each other. Andi denies she can write intimate scenes. Psh! She most certainly can! This book is perfect for a lazy afternoon read. Now, I have to behave and wait for the Next book in her New Mexico series. Write Andi, Write!

I could not stop reading. What a well crafted and entertaining story that simply flows. I love all the characters, and Davey did his job well, lol. I can't be the only one who shed some tears. And it felt good! I would love a sequel!

I just finished reading From The Boots Up. It was captivating. Pulled me right into the story. The main character Meg is a young ranch girl home from school for the summer to help with her father's ranch and their "ranch experience" guests. A journalist comes to the ranch to do a story to help promote the ranch. Meg has an instant attraction to the brown eyed beauty named Gina. She can't und...erstand why she can't let the crush go; for all she knows is that Gina is straight, in a relationship and most certainly off limits since she is a guest and doing a cover story for the ranch. But she is smitten. The heat builds between Meg and Gina as there is some casual flirting that is being exchanged throughout the week that Gina is staying at the ranch for the story.

A few close encounters of butterflies and sweaty palms that has the reader yelling aloud, kiss her already...But the story continues and the suspense proves to be enticing as it continues to pull the reader (me) deeper into the story. I couldn't flips those pages on my Kindle fast enough.

It is an awesome and captivating book. For anyone that is filled with passion, loves the pull on the heart and the loins; please get your copy of Andi Marquette's book "From The Boots Up"See More

Excellent book, but too short, I was left wanting more of Meg & Gina. I have grown very fond of the "Cowgirl" themes, and this one was a good read, charming love story!!!

I'd like to comment on the ending of the book, more specifically the personal piece that Gina wrote for Meg and included in the letter to her. I thought it showed the true writing talent of the author, the poetic & symbolic way Gina described the time she spent with Meg that final week on the ranch, what she thought, and the feelings she had for Meg starting with the first meeting. It was beautifully written, it rocked!!
