I Give this book 3.5/5 Stars, but will list as 3.
I will buy this book as soon as it comes available, I really enjoyed this book and looking forward to reading the future book of this Series & ‘Author’.
This is J.A.Huss under a different pen-name: K.C. Cross.
I’m a huge fan and I’m looking forward all her works.
This is a series of individual books that feature different set of couples that get HEA, but this is a continuous story that spans each to form a bigger picture in the end.
So I recommend reading in order.
Heat: 3.5/5 (I had a bit of trouble trying to visualize some of the smexy scenes)
After that crazy storyline Cliffy, I am craving to read what happens next.
Do I recommend(?): Absolutely, it’s a good Read.
Serpint is a bounty hunter that lives in Harem Station with his six brothers and his "job" is to go out into the universe and capture/kidnap/collect - whatever you want to call it - Cygnian princesses and add them to his brother's collection.
Lyra is one of those princesses, and when she's "given" to Serpint, a sexy, funny, out of this world adventure ensues. She's on a mission that gets derailed, and now she's an indentured servant to Serpint. When the two are near each other, all kinds of wild things happen. Bodies start glowing, extra appendages come out of hiding, spontaneous combustion, or maybe it's nuclear fusion, occurs and for a little while the whole world around them comes to a halt as they experience a connection unlike any other.
This first book sets the stage for the world they live in. Harem Station, which is run by a sentient being named ALCOR, made me have flashbacks to HAL in 2001 A Space Odyssey. Robots, cyborgs, AI, outlaws and every type of space alien and species imaginable call Harem Station their home. Everything has been going great on Harem Station until Lyra arrives and Serpint gets home from his last mission that proved very fortuitous, but at too high a cost to his team. Once his cargo is delivered to his brother, Crux, and they figure out who and exactly what Lyra is, the action picks up fast and furious!
The sexy times between Serpint and Lyra are...explosive! The story moves at a good pace, accelerating at the end with a lot of action and a whole bunch of "oh my goodness, are they going to survive?!?!" And there's a tantalizing little cliffy at the end that makes me want the next book right now!
For not starting out as a Sci-Fi reader, I can honestly say I am fully on board for more adventures at Harem Station!!
-Both main characters are remarkably well developed. You get inside their minds and really relate to them. Even the bots and AIs are so fun!
-The descriptions are thorough yet not overdone. It’s definitely not one of those books where you’re thinking, “OK, you’ve been describing the table in the corner for like three pages now…”
-Even though there is a lot of sex in this book, it is so unique it doesn’t even remotely take from the plot; in fact, it adds to it. The fact that the FMC glows just gets progressively more interesting. The plotline is just as well-developed as the characters are.
-The writing is just downright fantastic. Each chapter is structured beautifully in that flawless ‘upside-down pyramid’ style that is so important for creating a page-turner. I did a little bit of homework on the author, and now I see why. This woman knows what she’s doing. I’m so glad she ventured into this other pen name!
Now as I said, I didn’t care for the title or the cover, although I know the cover design in particular is common in this genre. But what is interesting is that this is my first venture into SF/PNR. I’m a big fan of both genres, but had never read them combined into one book. Well, now I will be doing so quite a bit. I randomly clicked on a BookBub ad for it, and even though I wasn’t particularly impressed by the cover or title, and, at the time, it only had one review, I was so impressed by the blurb, I had to try it out.
And I’m so glad I did. I will definitely be reading the others. And I will be watching out for other books by this author, for sure. Especially when I got to the end and saw she has vampire books!

Go ahead, step into another world, suspend your belief in what is currently possible and enjoy a trip to Harem Station. A very enjoyable book, I'm looking forward to more in this series.
This is a new adventure for queen of romantic suspense, JA Huss writing as KC Cross. It is an over the top, silly, but substantial romp into outer space.
The classic elements of a great romance are here, attraction, soulmates, danger, and potentially a HEA for all the cast members. 💕💕
What's not to love about that?
I especially loved the attention to detail the world building descriptions offered the reader.
I understood what each character looked liked. I saw the landscapes, the spaceships, the robots very clearly in my minds eye. There wasn't any confusion about any aspects of the story as far as I'm concerned.
As to the actual love story between Serpint the bounty hunter and Cygnian princess Lyra, it was funny, snarky, sweet and steamy. Everything I needed and so much more besides.
I urge you give this a go, even if sci-fi romance isn't for you, you might be very pleasantly surprised by the twists and turns on the road to happiness.
