Older reviews made me worry that this piece was going to be pretty flimsy and ugly, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It's heavy, sturdy, and goes together very well. I'm not saying that it's solid wood, but it mimics the feel of it quite well, the striped wood sections of the piece look much more natural than I was expecting. Overall, this is terrific value for money, in my opinion. It is a bit bigger than I expected, so I would measure carefully if your design project isn't very flexible on space.

The design concept of this mid-century collection is great, and the zebra veneer is unique. However, the overall construction of this piece is mediocre. The veneer work does not cover all sides, and the MDF that is painted to match was chipping right out of the box. The piecework that constitutes the oval body of the table was not properly glued/nailed, and the seams were inching apart and giving to light pressure just from screwing the legs on. The zebra veneer, while unique, has a much brighter, yellow tone than in the picture - this adds to the "cheap" appearance. After assembling the table and placing it among the other furniture in my room, I packed it up and shipped it back. I wanted a conversation piece, but I want the conversation to be a positive one...

I love the mid-century design of this table. It was a little larger than I thought, but, that was my measuring problem. The reason the table is getting three stars is because it was not finished. I had to get a wood fill pen to fill in all of the connecting joints. I can't believe that this was not fixed at the manufacturing site. At first, I thought that might have been a single mistake, but the second table had the same problem. Actually, I am returning the second table because it arrived in three pieces, because of the lack of packing material in the cubby hole. Someone else complained about the rope attached to the table and I couldn't understand what they meant, but, now I do. For some reason, a rope is stapled to the top of the inside of the table and even after cutting the rope, you can't remove it completely without a struggle. The fact that two tables arrived not finished, I decided to keep the one and just get a refund for the second broken one, instead of asking for a replacement and that is not good.
