This series is fast paced and full of adventure and excitement, kind of like Vegas itself. Sara takes on the Emperor who has grown to almost untouchable strength, and goes after those children she'd thought dead if not forgotten. The trials she faces between Death and the Devil both trying to help in their own twisty ways, almost costs her her life. But she comes back relatively whole to face the Magician as she knew she must once and for all. Finally Sara and Armaeus get busy, which she's been fighting for so long, but once again life interferes, carrying you straight into the next book.
Il know I put spoilers in here and for that I apologize (I did warn you!) but that's was the only way to show you just how chock full of adventure each book is, and why it's so hard to stop to review.
It's rare to find an author of paranormal novels that can capture and hold your interest through book after book. Jenn Stark has definitely done that and more with her Immortal Vegas series. So, without further ado, on to the next!
Sara Wilde is a Tarot-reading magical artifacts hunter who has found herself immersed in a situation that threatens the psychic community. However, Sara may find herself struggling as this mission is going to have a way of digging up her past. The enemy that sent her running as a teenager has returned much more powerful than before and with some demon friends.
As if the chaos of Las Vegas, diverting an attempt at being kidnapped, dealing with the bureaucracies of the Arcana Council, visiting the Lost City of Atlantis, and almost having your BFF possessed by a demon isn't enough, Sara is being pushed to stretch her magical abilities by her
mentor, the Magician (AKA Armaeus Bertrand). She is determined to keep her distance from Armaeus' seductive charms-but will her resolve hold?
If Sara is to succeed in her latest mission she must confront her past, find out more about her abilities, and come to terms with her quest for vengeance.
love, looove, LLLLOOOVVEEE this Series! I was definitely left guessing at every turn about what was going to happen next. The constant twists and Sara Wilde's action packed adventure kept me hooked in this book, as well as the previous books. Miss Wilde is such a fun character to follow-I appreciate her abilities to be self-sufficient and self-reliant but am SO glad she starts to find stronger connections with others in this book. SPOILERS START HERE!!!
HOLY MOLY! I feel like a lot of stuff happened in this book! Outside of the steamy scene between Sara and Armaeus at the end (finally!), Sara finds out her mother was not really her mother, she perfects astral travel (sort of), finds her biological father, frees the Syx from their prison along with the six missing kids (who are now teenagers), then frees those same Syx from their 'sale' to Annika Soo, and suffers some major injuries along the way-good thing Armaeus has a way with healing ;-)
I do have a question tho-what about Father Jerome? We didn't hear from him and their joined mission. However, Sara is still taking on jobs to provide financial support-otherwise I do not think she would still willingly work with Mercault if he didn't pay so well. I get such a slimy feeling every time he interacts with her. Almost like he thinks he owns part of her-gross. And he totally doesn't seem broken hearted over the loss of his family and men in the last book.
Nikki Dawes is awesome. Personal driver/BFF for Sara-I was very happy to see that Sara was finally willing to let her in as more than just an acquaintance. I love Nikki's spunk and can totally visual her outfits ever time they are described-so awesome! With her sass and fun she really adds to this book-like seriously:
'“Stupid Brody and his stupid gun safety issues,” she muttered'. How do you not chuckle a little bit?
What is up with the Lost City of Atlantis? Kinda creepy and kinda cool. I hope we unravel a bit more of that's mystery in later books. And what is up with the Atlantean deck of cards-so vague-I want more! Thankfully, Death does give us some insight.
I feel like this book left me more confused about Sara and Detective Brody tho! At some moments it's like they care and then it's like they do everything to avoid each other. Their relationship is a complicated one-I mean seriously, how do you reconnect after 10 years with one person believing the other was dead? I feel like we didn't get any resolutions to their relationship but it seems Sara has moved on to Armaeus. Armaeus may be delicious, Kreios would have been my choice-yummmm!
Overall, great book! Highly recommended to others. Definitely a lot of sexual situations and commentary, and of course a steamy scene with Sara and Armaeus-so definitely for a mature audience. Looking forward to continuing with this Series. Thank you Jenn Stark!
First thing you need to know is we get plenty of Magician time and do does Sara! Yea for Stark giving the Magician his due.
Plus this is by far the best story in the series, as Sara comes full circle with her past. Stark hit me with a new big baddie, as really the Devil has shades of grey not black.
The connected kids in Europe seems to be just a money dump for Sara, as she is now totally invested in Las Vegas. I commend her wanting to save the kids, but she and Father Jerome haven't really fleshed out how they save the kids.
Stark gave me glimpses of the larger on goings in the collected community, but never does she get off track with her main plot.
As always Sara is a delightful character to read about. Sara's powers are expanding at a dangerous rate and the reason why is explained in the book.
For some reason Dixie rubs me the wrong way and it has nothing to do with Brody, as he is so last decade.
I am falling in love more and more with Nikki, as this girl is fierce.
Now I do wish that Sara and The Magician could connect in a quiet one on one like she does with the Devil. I need some quiet time for Sara, just a moment while the world around her spins out of control. It would enrich the series for me. Maybe them grab a bite after he heals her, those respite moments that really flesh out characters.
In the end this is a series not to be missed, especially for the sensual slow burn, that ends in a inferno!!

And a great way to spend a few hours getting lost in Vegas!
