The BosStrap Generation 3 Sliding Sling Strap is a two part sliding sling system which includes a 1 " wide sling strap and the Patent Pending Generation 3 BosTail (G3 Tail). A sliding sling strap is more than just a strap worn diagonally across your body to take the camera weight off your neck. Sliding sling straps use a special fitting that moves along the diagonal strap, not requiring the strap itself to move. Your camera is attached to sliding fitting. Because of the sliding fitting, when you bring the camera up from your side, the sling strap does not pull on your shirt. In use, the camera glides smoothly along the strap up to your eye; when not in use the camera rests comfortably at your hip. Nothing compares to the comfort and convenience that a sliding sling strap provides. The BosStrap G3 Sliding Sling Strap offers the smoothest action of any sling strap on the market. The 1 " wide nylon sling uses a small, nickel plated sliding fitting for extraordinarily smooth movement. The wide strap evenly distributes the weight of your gear, obviating the need for a shoulder pad while making the BosStrap G3 convenient to use, light weight, strong, and easily storable.
BosStraps do not use the tripod socket as an attachment point to the camera. The Patent Pending G3 Tail attaches to the left camera strap lug. The G3 Tail uses a cam buckle with a unique safety sleeve. Together the cam buckle and safety sleeve provide two levels of security. The cam buckle and safety sleeve insure that your camera can not be accidentally detached from the sling strap, but when you want, your camera can easily, intentionally be detached. Dimensions - 1 1/2 wide, 64 long

However, I did not find the straight shoulder strap of the BosStrap comfortable compared to the Black Rapid strap with a curved shoulder pad. (I have a women's Black Rapid strap.). The straight BosStrap rides up on your neck while walking. When wearing a crew-neck tee shirt the entire width of the strap is on my bare neck. Even my husband prefers my "women's" Black Rapid because it stays on his shoulder and off his neck. If you look at the BosStrap promotional video - bosstrap.com/videos/bosstrap-features/ - the man is wearing a collared shirt which helps keep the strap in place. What you wear and how long you wear the strap will effect how much of an issue this is. Hiking for hours with the strap rubbing on bare skin is very uncomfortable.
Currently I am using the BosStrap "tail" (which is also sold as a stand-alone item) on my Black Rapid strap. This makes the camera dangle a bit, especially with a long lens, but I stabilize it with my hand while walking. It is not a perfect solution but the best combination of features I've found so far.
Only complaint is that I use walking sticks and it swings in the way. If I could figure out how to mobilize it without making it more complicated to grab that would be perfect.

Con: Lack of padding makes uncomfortable after long day if you have a dslr w/battery grip and heavy lens
