The small end of hose part VAC005 fit perfectly into the dust collection port of the Bosch 1775E Tuckpoint grinder. The large end of the VAC005 was identical in diameter to the hose attachment end (2 1/4 OD) of my 12 gal Shop Vac. I used Ridgid VT2511 ("Hose to Hose Connector") to insert / connect the two ends together. Worked like a charm. (I also reviewed the hose)
Alternatively, I could have simply connected my Shop Vac Hose directly to the grinder with Bosch VAC020 adapter (yes, I tried it, & it fits) if I wanted to avoid spending the extra $ for this hose to save a few bucks, but I prefer to have this smaller diameter hose attached directly to the grinder, rather than the larger, bulkier Shop Vac hose.
Footnote: I considered also using this for removing sanded grout from floor tile (a difficult and demanding job to do well, and which 9/10 tile guys will pass up, with most preferring to simply re-tile), using either a Slayer Turbo diamond wheel for rodding granite (5" x 3/16"), or the Alpha Tools 4.2mm or 5.5mm Hot Rod blades (for 1/4 grout lines. Standard 1/4"+ tuckpointing diamond blades are too thick for 1/4" grout lines).Read more ›
I cut a 3/4-in. deep groove down the center of the (horizontal) bed joints, leaving a thin wafer of mortar on the bricks. Then,I used a hammer and an old screwdriver to knock out the wafer. I found my pointing chisle to be too clunky for this job.
I found that the grinder doesn't work well in the (vertical) head joints because it's easy to grind into the bricks above and below the joints. For the head joints, I used my hammer drill--also a Bosch tool-- and a pointing chisle.
Shipping was very fast with my Amazon prime and I got it for over $50 less than anywhere else.
My local Bosch rep did not like it as he could not even give it to me for the price I paid.
Bosch always does a great job and Amazon has never let me down!
higher priority jobs we were able to use it only very recently. I have a chimney on
an older two-story house that was in very poor condition Over the years it has been
subjected to many burnouts from both wood and coal. It got so that during a heavy
rain, water would blow through the mortar and cracked bricks and run down inside
the chimney and then leak out inside the house. We had to either tear down the
chimney or repair it. Because tuckpointing is a very time consuming job, we wanted
to do whatever we could to speed it up; so after considerable research I ordered the
1775E. It appears to be a quality tool and did everything It was supposed to. It is
fast and nice to handle. We did not use a vacuum; only a mask. There was a light
breeze blowing across the top of the house, so that was all that was needed.
I am very pleased with the 1775E.

Nice unit but the slotted blade that is included is a total waste. Include a blade where the width is appropriate for cleaning between bricks. Read morePublished 20 days ago by Amazon Customer

Awesome tool! This thing removes mortar like it's not even there. And be careful, because it will remove brick too.Published on May 14, 2014 by Mark A Twyman
Worked well for an indoor repointing project. You still need to open the doors and use a fan to prevent too much dust, even with using the vacuum adapter. Read morePublished on May 5, 2014 by Loraine Heckenberg
