Reliable 6V/12V Charging With Maximum Safety
Vehicles today are often equipped with a wide array of power-robbing accessories such as GPS navigation units, stereo sound systems, video players, daytime running lights, and many other electrical convenience functions. All these items place a high demand on a vehicle's battery which can lead to discharge, sulfation, or acid stratification. The best way to ensure reliable starting of your vehicle is to keep a regular check on the battery charge--especially in vehicles not used year-round, such as motorcycles, convertibles and classic cars. Battery chargers from Bosch are first aid for exhausted batteries and return them to top condition.

The Bosch Battery Charger and Maintainer is a smart charger operated by a MCU processor that provides state-of-the-art charging technology that allows the charger to interact with and respond to the condition of the battery. It modifies its charge action based on the feedback from the battery in order to provide a high quality charge that restores sulfated and discharged batteries to their original capacity without under- or overcharging.
The Most Intelligent Battery Chargers
Since it is a smart charger, it will automatically detect the voltage of the battery and select the proper series of charging stages based on the needs of the battery. It can be left connected to the battery and will switch to the maintenance charging mode when the battery voltage falls below 12.8V. The float and maintenance cycles are repeated indefinitely to keep the battery at full charge without overcharging.
Unlike manual and automatic battery chargers that treat all batteries the same no matter what condition they are in and charge with a steady, unregulated current, the Bosch Battery Charger and Maintainer uses SmartAMPS Technology, the optimum charge current depending on the battery’s condition and the current charging stage, to provide a fast, high quality charge that ensures the longest life of your battery.
One-Button Smart Charging
You do not need to be a specialist to use the Bosch Battery Charger and Maintainer. Simply attach the two insulated charger clamps integrated into the opposite end to the appropriate battery posts of the lead-acid battery being charged or maintained. Then plug in the AC power cord, integrated at one end of the charger, to a standard 110-volt household outlet. Finally use the mode button to select from 4 charging modes to instantly begin charging. Its is as easy as connect, plug in, and turn on. For extra convenience the included charger mounting hook allows you to hang the charger upright in the best spot possible between the battery and the AC power source.
The Safest Charger to Use
Safety is an important concern around any power source. One-button operation, built-in pulse and maintenance charge function, and a comprehensive safety concept make the Bosch C3 Battery Charger and Maintainer very safe to use. If an abnormal situation occurs, such as when the charger is incorrectly connected or there is an abnormal charging time, the charger switches automatically to standby mode to protect the battery from damage. Additionally the charger is designed to protect against spark, short-circuit, reverse polarity, and overheating, making this the safest charger you can use.
What's in the Box?
Bosch C3 6V and 12V 4-Mode Smart Battery Charger and Maintainer, charger mounting hook, charger cable with built in fuse, 2 fully insulated charger clamps, harness with mounting rings and instruction manual.

Bosch Delivers the Quality Parts Consumers and Shops Want Most for the Vehicles they Service
Bosch provides consumers and repair shops worldwide with a wide range of spare parts for passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
The origins of Bosch as a supplier of automotive equipment go back to 1887 when Robert Bosch and his engineer, Gottlob Honold, built a product that would later revolutionize the automotive industry – a magneto ignition device for a stationary engine. In 1897, he installed one of these devices into a three-wheeler vehicle to see whether it was suitable for everyday use in motor vehicles. What was initially a small sideline product has since grown to become the company’s largest business sector.
Today, Bosch is one of the world’s largest independent manufacturers of automotive parts and systems with a global network of factories. Our products and technology can be found in virtually every car make produced throughout the world. This strong link to original equipment development and innovation means Bosch is able to deliver superior automotive parts.
Bosch provides a wide range of spare parts for passenger and commercial vehicles - including these popular categories.

Note: these units were only lightly used once, possibly twice, during the total ownership period. Both were properly stored. Yet both failed inexplicably with a "MODE" button that doesn't operate. You're left staring at a unit that lights up the mode button with a blue LED but no functionality and scratching your head wondering what you might have done wrong to prevent it's proper operation. Then after a lot of wasted time reading reading manuals for the (simple-to-use device) and reading blogs have learned that this is a common issue with the unit. So thanks Bosch for managing to simultaneously leave me stranded, make me feel stupid, and stick me with not one but TWO units that look brand new but don't work.
Startup behavior: When AC power is lost and returns, it powers up in "doing nothing" state. Oops, did you think leaving this thing connected to your battery was gonna keep it maintained? Better remember to trot out to the garage and push the button a few times to restart it! Good luck remembering that after a power blip.
Interface: What exactly are you pushing the button for, anyway? Some LEDs indicate a choice, and change when you push the button, and some LEDs indicate status, and change, presumably, depending on what the battery is doing. They all look identical and are accompanied only by nearly-useless hieroglyphics, though, so plan to re-skim the manual every time you have to interact with the thing. I ended up sticking a piece of tape to mine and writing my own micro-manual on it.
Cord: The inline coupler on the DC cord is obnoxious. It's waterproof, which is nice, and it's not a polarity-death-trap like the common "trailer connector" I've seen on other products, so they were headed in the right direction. But the latch doesn't actually latch, or if it does it releases with just a tug, and sometimes it doesn't release even when you really mash it with your thumb, and heaven forbid you have to use it with gloves. I replaced mine with a pair of Powerpoles because they mate sensibly and I didn't need the waterproofing. Also the cord was too short so I was extending it anyway.
Clips: These are actually pretty sweet, and they're my favorite part of the unit. Ring terminals that couple sensibly onto pretty nice little clips. Definitely a keeper. Shame the rings were too small to fit my battery's posts, so I had to replace them anyway.
I reached out to them by phone and returned some unused Bosch spark plugs and defective Bosch battery charger and Bosch was absolutely excellent! Great customer service and no hassles at all. I was refunded for the full price of the plugs and they sent me a more expensive updated version of the battery charger. For this alone I intend to stick with Bosch.
UPDATE
I've had the chance to use this now multiple times on an AGM ran down to as low as 9v. This Bosch C3 indicated with a red exclamation in that case so I put a volt meter on the battery and confirmed it did indeed charge the battery.
By pressing the center button one can select AGM etc and these functions all work properly.
The unit is small and light weight, but robust. After these trials I see no point in keeping my big heavy charger.
Top reviews from other countries
1. Operation Manual clearly mentions the necessary requirement of 8V threshold meaning that battery's charge should not be below 8V because then it will wrongly recognise the battery as 6V battery (which is what exactly happened in my case).
THIS SHOULD BE MENTIONED BY SELLERS/COMPANY/AMAZON IN THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION BULLET POINTS RIGHT NEXT TO ITS IMAGES. It is a kind of cheating by giving insufficient info. (there should not be a need to post question for this information, it should be readily and clearly visible) and thus tricking consumers into buying an item.
2. Real use of this charger is only limited to situations when your car doesn't crank but lights, horn etc. seem okay. That is, the charge is not 12V but still above 8V threshold.
3. I discovered a hack to make it work but it required a working 12V car battery for that. And I can say it DOES charge battery up to 12V once battery is detected right.
4. Once the battery was charged (OK LED lit), I realised that the trickle charging option was not working, according to the manual at least. It says the OK light should flicker after a delay of few seconds once the charging is "OK". It can be a wrong info. in the manual or a faulty unit otherwise.
All in all, more often than not, battery is already flat when you know it and C3 hangs you out to dry because of its freaking 8V threshold B.S.
I have purchased this for my Harley Davidson 1200 Custom 2015 model vehicle. Which is having a 12v battery which was low as I dint use it for 2 weeks. There was some power still left but not sufficient enough to start the bike.
I have seen the reviews in Amazon by one of the HOG member and trusted this and bought it.
It was delivered in 16 hours .
After I have removed the side panel and rider seat of my bike I have connected the wires as per the guidance in the manual and switched on the power supply.
I have pressed the Power(Mode) button on the charger only once and it detected the vehicle and voltage and set its charging mode automatically and started charging. Wonderful to see it automatically detecting the Mode (vehicle & voltage) as there are different Modes explained in the manual. I was thinking(worrying) whether to change the mode manually. But it was amazing to watch it functioning automatically.
The indicators on the charger will lit to indicate the state (as mentioned in manual) of charging, Vehicle and Battery type.
I left it four around 8-9 hours but checking it every 2 hours to see whether the charger or battery is heating up. Neither did.
It charged in 9 hours and changed the indicator that the battery is fully charged. As it was already 11pm I have unplugged the wires and left the bike covering it.
Next morning I were eager to see whether the battery is really charged, my bike would start, etc.
I have ignited the engine and pushed the start button. The bike started just like that with in fraction of second.
A happy ending to know the battery is full. I have not used any battery checking equipment but I am sure it is fully charged as per the starting time it took as soon as I pushed the button.
GREAT PRODUCT.
Before adding this product to my cart, I have shortlisted few other local made with definitely good reviews but unbranded. The manufacturer of it was prompt in responding to my query with genuine advise to go for different product of theirs.
But my trust in brands made to choose BOSCH and it is proven again a branded products are trustworthy.
I am sure it will help Sportster HOGs who ride their beast occasionally and wants to keep their bike charged when not used.
It appears the people who gave negative feedback don't know how to use it. I hope my feedback helps you in making the right decision. I have also attached snapshots from the manual to help you make an informed decision. Overall this is a brilliant charger and I am amazed at this intelligent piece of technology.
Both my car batteries couldn't survive the lockdown. One of the batteries was completely dead for months and the other for my XUV refused to start the car and had a very low charge, cabin lights wouldn't switch on either. So you can imagine the state of both batteries.
I connected my XUV battery to the charger first. It automatically detected it as a 12v car battery after a few seconds. I left it over night for about 14-15 hours and the battery was completely charged. Upon completing the charge the 'OK' LED on the charger lit up.
Now my second battery was of Tata Nano - a smaller 12V battery completely dead for months. On connecting, the charger refused to detect it and went on standby mode. I still left it connected for some time but it didn't detect or charge it. Now I don't know the technical/scientific reason behind why Bosch would make a charger that won't charge a completely dead battery, but fact is it doesn't. This is also mentioned in their Manual (see the manual snapshot).
So as a work around, using jumper cables, I gave the nano battery an initial charge with the XUV battery (15 minutes did it). Then the charger detected the battery and because it was a smaller battery it detected it as a two wheeler battery on 6V. However, I pressed the mode button on the charger twice and it quickly changed the mode to 12V car battery. Easy!
Now here's the technological genius in this charger - because this battery was completely drained, it charged this battery in a different way than XUV battery. For the first 5-7 hours it used pulse charging so as to not stress a dead battery with sudden charge. The lights on the charger would blink/flicker in a way indicating a pulse. After that the battery started charging in a normal way. This dead battery took longer time to charge, about 24 hours or so.
Note -
1) Add distilled water to the batteries before charging, in case there is less water in them.
2) Clean the battery terminals.
3) Do not charge dry batteries. This charger is not meant for it.
Pro's:
1) Marvel of a charger that detects the battery, understands its state, size and volt and charges it gently to ensure longer battery life.
2) Displays when the charge is complete and auto cuts-off to prevent over charging.
3) Trickle charges your battery towards the end to prevent any stress or over charging.
4) Has memory function, so if you lose power, the charger retain the last charge state and starts from there.
5) Has inbuilt 16A fuse to prevent an electric surge passing to your battery.
6) Has reverse polarity protection. Detects if you have wrongly connected the terminals. Charging won't start until terminals are connected correctly.
7) Can charge Gel (AGM) batteries also.
8) Charger does not heat at all and neither do the batteries.
9) No maintenance required for the charger.
10) Charger wire is about 1.5 meters length and the Terminal wires are also about 1.5 in length. So the cables give a good 3 meter or so length.
11) Compact and very light charger that you can hang on the wall.
12) Terminal quality and wire quality is very good.
13) LED display is well designed and manual explains everything.
14) Has a two pin wall plug. Works on 230V. No adapter required.
Cons:
1) You will need at least some charge left in your battery. It will not charge a completely dead battery.
Conclusion:
Buy it, it's a great compact charger for safe and effortless charging.
Although long, i hope my review helped you make up your mind.
Cheers!
