Comparing Bosch and Dewalt laser glasses?

I bought both the DEWALT DW0714 Laser Enhancement Glasses and these glasses in the same shipment. I was paying for overnight shipping and it was no increase in shipping to get another pair so why not?

First off, I am using these glasses with the Bosch Dual Plane Leveling and Alignment Laser, Model# GLL2-80 . I doubt that using another make of laser would affect my experience but there you go.

Both glasses do the job. They make the red laser line much easier to see in all conditions. Without the glasses, it is impossible to see the beam at 30 feet away in bright sunlight. If you have a red reflector, that makes it possible to see the beam, but you have to work hard to see it and it's difficult to be sure of your measurement. With the glasses, it's much easier. It doesn't fundamentally change the use of a laser level. The beams are still hard to see in super-bright light and/or at a distance. But they are very inexpensive, so you really should get a pair, either pair, to help your laser leveling tasks.

Now you want to know which pair is better, these or the Dewalt. I will be returning the other pair and keeping the Bosch. The Bosch ones make the beam show up just a tad bit more, but really, just a tad. The Bosch glasses are ridonculous-sized, which is a good thing if you need to wear eyeglasses underneath them. The Dewalts are more comfortable. But I don't care about comfort when I'm laser leveling, I just want the best performance. And the Bosch glasses are better than the Dewalts. But either is great.

Got these to help with my laser rangefinder when working outside. With the glasses, in daylight, I can see the dot maybe 25-35 feet farther away than without. On dark surfaces or textures where I can barely see the dot if I know where it is, with the glasses I can see it plainly. They help a lot when I set a target at the far end of a building and try to 'walk' the dot down there. So, they are not magic, but they do help.

Also, the deep red masks out all other color and shows the world in monochrome, so my wife uses them to check the overall tonal balance of her quilting projects. The front piece is sturdy and fits over eyeglasses. The temples are a little bend-y, but adequately strong, and probably won't break for a while, like until I sit on them. Good product, and nice price.

These Bosch "Laser View-Enhancing Glasses" are work great for enhancing the visibility of red laser light from pointers, leveling, and measuring tools and, as side bonus for me, almost completely attenuates green laser light (which makes them good as lab safety glasses). Here are my observations:

* Made entirely from a deep red colored plastic, but still feel very sturdy and should hold up well
* Big enough to comfortably fit over my reading glasses on my XL sized head
* Great protection to prevent light leakage from the side
* Makes even faint red laser lines very noticeable
* Great for working with high-power green lasers to prevent "splash" (reflected light) damage to the eyes

Note that these a DARK red and should be used when there is plenty of light if you are going to be moving around.

These laser "enhancing" goggles appear to be the same (if not the exact same) goggles that sold for triple this price as laser protective goggles for blue lasers. So I promptly bought two pairs.

As far as laser enhancement goes... yeah, I guess it's a little bit easier to see a red lasers line, but they really shine when dealing with blue laser blocking.

Now, with my laser, these wouldn't protect your eyes from a direct hit, but from general reflections off of a lens, or glow from it being focused on something, they work really well at making the light tolerable to look at from the side, as opposed to a near blindingly bright blue.

I'm glad to have found this source of goggles, because you can really never have too much safety equipment.

These are a must have to use your device outside in the bright sun. I am using these with a Bosch GLR225 rangefinder. With these glasses I can comfortably use the device out to 125 feet with the target in the sun. Beyond that distance it gets a little more difficult to see the beam and use the device comfortably. I can use the device out to it's max range of 225 feet in bright sun, if the target is in the shade.

The length of the ear pieces are adjustable. I wear glasses and they fit over them very comfortably. I highly recommended these to anyone that needs to use their rangefinder out in the bright sun.

The Bosch DLA001 Laser View-Enhancing Glasses I received are not the same as those pictured above. Mine have black telescoping temples and a black frame piece across the top front. The multi-piece construction makes them feel flimsy.

These glasses are quite small and will not fit comfortably over regular eyeglasses unless you have a very small head. If you don't need to wear glasses under them, they should fit reasonably, albeit a bit snug.

It appears to me that the laser view-enhancing properties are nominal, bordering on imaginary. Using a Crimson Trace class 3R red laser, I can see little or no difference in visibility with or without these glasses in most lighting conditions up to 50 ft.
