I bought the 6 inch as well as the 12 inch (just in case)but only used the 6". The 6 inch hex chuck was stripped down to a little thicker than a few toothpicks and could not hold any drill bit in its head.

The tiny little allen key that comes with it broke upon tightening and no drill bit was able to stay locked in place by the tiny little screw at the head top socket.

Bosch is usually good, but this was a junky item. Some Bosch exec didn't bother to do the necessary scheduled quality inspection on this product made in China.

I hope this doesn't happen with future Bosch items.

the hole is actually round and does not hold the 1/4 shank bits without slipping. you need to tighten with an allen wrench, which is really annoying, i finally bought the milwaukee which is quick-lok and im much happier

Not a lot to discuss here. It has two set screws to hold the bit being extended, and runs true. It is notched as shown to slip into a quick connect chuck which might be convenient for a real high intensity user. I have an 18" extension but got into a jam where the bit was too short but the bit plus 18" extension was too long (between floor joists) and so this 6-inch unit works perfect. I was drilling though four sistered joists, that really are 2x10 (1915 frame house; don't ask). So it worked great with a 5/8" Bosch self-feeding spade bit. I see no problem with this extension and high recommend it.

I have a set of standard length (6") Bosch DareDevil spade bits and needed to do a hole through about 6" of wood studs at the corner of a room for new wiring, just a little too deep for the standard length. I got this extension despite the pretty negative reviews. It worked perfectly. It held tight even though the drilling was tough and I had to use an impact driver instead of a drill in order to get the hole finished. The set screws are not the way I would have liked this to be designed, but they work, and you don't need to tighten them unreasonably. The connection to the spade bit held firm under considerable torque, and did not pull out when I pulled back to remove the bit. The advantage of this over some others I saw is that the cross section at the connection is small, so you can use it with the small bits, while the others I looked at have a fat connecting device and can't be used with the smaller spade bit diameters. The DareDevil spade bits themselves are vicious in the way they bite through wood. Really happy with them too. This is a very inexpensive item and I would certainly recommend it.

I purchased this to add an extension to my drill for some holes I have to drill through in my deck and have about three pieces of wood to drill through for each hole. They do their job and fair priced.

Didn't use this one for very long before dropping it for another manufacturer's quick-change extension. No set screws and allen key to mess with, or lose, and hex inside the head, so bits won't spin like they often do with this one. Much better.

Of course, it only works with the hex shank bits. When drilling through sheet rock, which is how I always use it, the sheet rock dust gets into the bit anchoring screws making them difficult to loosen. I cleaned them with WD40, but the next time I used it, one of the bolts fell out. :( Be careful!

Much much cheaper, but I'm having trouble with the tightening hex bolts stripping. They seem to be cheaper aluminum or something. Either replace or be careful. Make sure you don't over tighten.
