Designed to Stop the Swirl
The Bosch ROS20VSK was built with an integral pad-dampening braking system, which was engineered to reduce swirl marks, which is the No. 1 complaint of random orbit sander users. The random orbit sander/polisher also comes equipped with Bosch’s signature HookTight hook-and-loop disc attachment. Over 35,000 long-life hooks on this attachment help to secure firm grip of the disc during use. Additionally, the included microcellular backing pad ensures a smooth, fine finish on both flat and contoured surfaces alike.
More Control with Variable Speed
This random orbit sander/polisher includes variable-speed control, so users can demand the exactly right speed for each individual task. The speed is adjustable from between 7,500 and 12,000 opm, with a single speed of 12,000 opm, so operators can dial up or down. The orbit diameter is 3/64-inch, and the tool weighs in at only 3.5 pounds, furnishing remarkable sanding effectiveness in a tool that is straightforward and easy to deal with.
Microfilter Dust System
This tool has a built-in microfilter system that traps dust particles as small as 1/2 micron in diameter. The microfilter dust canister curtails dust spillback into the sander. This ensures that users aren’t breathing in too much dust on the job. The compact dust canister simply twists off, making the dust level visible and incredibly easy to detach when necessary. The sander is compatible with standard 1-1/4-inch and 1-1/2-inch vacuum hoses or any Bosch vacuum cleaner hose. It also features a dust-sealed switch.
Comfort Comes First
With an ergonomic soft-grip top and body, the Bosch ROS20VSK allows the operator to use the tool with varied grip positions, to reduce hand fatigue. It features Bosch's constant response circuitry, which provides a smoother experience by producing constant speed under load. This also helps this solidly built tool generate a low-vibration operation that helps promote user comfort for more extended periods of use.

Top customer reviews
Refinished a built in cabinet and the sanding with this probably took 1/50th the time it would have taken by hand. In fact, after starting that job by hand is what led me to order this.
The vacuum on the sander works pretty well but don't expect it to catch all of the dust. I wear a mask and there is always some cleanup but it grabs almost all.
For the various wood projects found that the coarser grit (100 and lower) passes go pretty quick and that using a wood cleaner (Minwax) between going from a coarser to a finer grit improves the quality of the job. For some of the surfaces did a 400 grit by hand as the final pass.
This sander also smoothed out the doors in the mudroom after touching up with wood filler.
It is loud but not excessively so, less than a typical vacuum cleaner- though it does drive the dog batty.
The form--Very comfortable and easy to control, , and overall construction is very solid. The handle is grippy without being tacky, so one can get into a good work flow without worrying about nicking a surface because the sander tilted away from flush while changing hands.
Durability--Have only used for a total of five or so hours, but at least no problems or visible wear and tear have resulted from them.
Accessories--The version purchased came with a canvas bag, which looks and feels very rugged and is flanked by pockets on the outside for...well, pocketing things. The opening is bolstered by what feels like heavy metal wires/bars, so it doesn't sag or fold in the middle. I wish it were a little larger to accommodate sanding sheets and discs, but it comfortably holds the tool itself, and has space for a few wrenches, screwdrivers, pencils, etc.
First impression was that the grip was comfortable, vibration was low, noise was acceptable, it's light, and overall a good tool to use. However, it blew dust everywhere! I used it first in my own home while sanding trim and it was a mess, no question I will have to hook it up to a vacuum next time I'm working indoors. Specifically I was sanding painted trim and doors in preparation for painting. Big mistake. It also seemed to blow more dust on the outside of the dust collector than inside. I wish I could attach a picture.
I checked the o-ring to make sure it sealed the collector, and made sure the collector was seated properly. I've checked for obstructions and I'm using the proper 8 hole sanding discs. I pulled off the dust collector and made sure air was being directed out of the dust port...everything was in proper order
The other thing is the adapter for the vacuum is puzzling too. It just slides over the o-ring without any mechanical locking mechanism or pressure fitting. It easily pulls away from the sander. I don't get it. This isn't very well thought out by Bosch. In this hyper sensitive environment do dust and air-borne pollutants Bosch could have done better. Most of the homes I remodel are occupied, dust collection is important to me since it's a big deal to my clients.
I want to like this sander, but the failing on the dust collection/vacuum end will keep me looking for another alternative.
