One of the great things about these dishwashers that no one talks about is they sit in a waterproof housing/tub, so if there's a hose leak, blocked impeller or any other malady that creates water leakage from a dishwasher, it captures and senses the leak, turns off the water and the machine. This has only happened once with me, but it saved thousands of $$ in hardwood flooring that my more expensive Fisher & Paykel would have destroyed because it lacks this feature.
First the good: it gets the dishes clean and it is very, very quiet. I find the racks very flexible and can pack in a lot more dishes than my old dishwasher.
BUT the smell is nauseating. The clean smell is bearable, but already carries a hint of what will become, by the next day, a swampy, rotten smell. Yes, the draining tube is looped high the way it shows in the manual (a frequent online suggestion to correct the smell) and I'm using the FInish tabs and Jet Dry. It smells worse when I put dirty dishes in, but even empty a few days after running it, it smells.
The interior stays moist and warm in between runs, which may be part of the problem. I get a blast of warmth when I open it to load it. Also, the upturned bottoms of the mugs are always pooled with water, although otherwise the dishes do get dry. I also don't like that I suddenly have to buy multiple, more expensive products to run it at its best.
It's the only appliance in my kitchen that I'm disappointed in. And it's the only one I didn't research myself first. Caveat emptor.
I have one word to describe it overall, AWFUL. After trying all different types of finish detergent from powder, to liquid, to the capsules, the dishes remain dirty. The person I purchased the dishwasher from explained to me that newer dishwashers have sensors in them and not to put clean dishes in the dishwasher--- well, I tried that and the dishes came out almost as dirty as they were when we placed them in the dishwasher. So I continue to rinse… and even rinsed, the dishes aren’t clean.
Next, they don’t dry. I put the cycle on at night at 8pm or so. I do not open to empty the dishes until 7pm (almost 24 hours) the next day—they are wet as if they have just been washed. I have to actually physically dry the dishes (if I am lucky enough not to have to run a second or third cycle to get them clean).
My water temperature is turned up high—so high that you can burn yourself if you have it on full. So I don’t believe there is a temperature issue here.
Wet, dirty dishes--- there is nothing positive I can say about it. I love every other appliance I purchased for my home (all high end and they are all wonderful). This appliance is the only one I complain about and regret. I have had very inexpensive plastic interior dishwashers that would make this machine bow it’s head in shame. This dishwasher is a failure to the Bosch brand—I would never purchase a Bosch ever again.
