My workspace is actually pretty small, 6' by 12' and I work with small projects mostly but when I do need some outfeed support for longer stock, this works great!
I have far too many returned items that have been sold as new only to spot the defect(s) upon opening them and or assembly.
Amazon you are going to loose my business very soon if you don't correct the problem. You need to start catching the defective merchandise and raise cain with the manufacturer. Chinese & Taiwanese built products have no ethics in quality control regardless of whose name is on the factory.
But the reality is the instructions aren't all that necessary. The exploded view diagram is more than enough to get this outfeed arm mounted.
Installation was tricky only because there's not a lot of room to turn the included 5mm allen head (socket head) bolts. With this kit, a hex key was included, but it could have been cut shorter to allow easier access to the four locations under the table where the bolts are threaded in to mount the brackets. Installation would have been much smoother with hex head bolts I could have turned with a wrench.
But that's all behind me. There's really no adjustment with the outfeed other than the angle of the brackets. As long as the arms slide easily, the kit is installed correctly. Unlike the left side support arm, there is no height adjustment on this piece.
Cons: Would be difficult to remove if you install the back set of C clips on the rods.
I bought the Bosch 10" table saw with the gravity rise stand. Most awesome saw I've ever owned. This accessory makes it even better. Prior to getting this, I used a roller stand. I rarely work on a level surface and those stands, if not perfectly aligned, tend to pull your work away from the rip fence. Plus, they are a real hassle to carry around.
Assembling and installing the extension to my saw was pretty straight forward. Due to clearance issues, it's a little tricky to mount the sleeves that bolt to the bottom of the saw table, but you only have to do that once and your patience will be rewarded. The extension rods slip into the sleeves and there are a couple of C-clips that keep it from going in too far or coming back out. There's also a set screw to lock it in place so it doesn't move when you're working with the saw. Now, when I'm ripping a long piece, I have an additional 15" or so of support - and it's immediately ready and needs no adjustment.
My only complaint is that this makes the saw about 4" wider meaning you have to take it off to wheel the saw through a 32" door opening. I left a set of the C-clips off so I could quickly remove the extension in the event I'm trying to move the saw into a job site.
The only problem I've had (really just a annoyance), is that with the Digital Scale for the 4100DG-09, or the Digital Scale mounted as an after accessory, the left rod is stopped by the digital scale when it is in the parked position as specified by Bosch.
What that means is that you have to be careful not to slam the extension into ITS parked position or you might damage the Digital scale. You need to stop it a little early and lock it into position to avoid touching the scale.
Other than that annoyance, it works quite well!
