It's small and efficient. I have the model shown here - the vented model. Several of the other reviews are clearly about the condenser version. We've had ours for two years, picked it up for about 20% of the original list price as a returned special order item.

Yes, it takes about an hour to try three pairs of jeans. It does it for a lot less electricity cost than other electrics I've had.

If you have the option to go gas, you're a fool not too. Gas dryers are far cheaper to operate. If you have no clothes line or live in Seattle, this is not for you. If you need to just dry a few things inside now and then when it's raining and you don't want to pay a huge surcharge to the power company for doing your drying faster, this is a good buy.

2.0 out of 5 starsBetter Than An Asko But Still Suck

First of all, it is small. We needed small because the idiots who built this house were the keebler elves and they don't need much space, heck, they live in a tree. We bought full size but the draw back to those was you couldn't close the door going out to the garage. This is a minor issue when the inside and outside temperatures are relatively the same. So, after having those for about 5 minutes we knew we needed a smaller washer/dryer combo. The Bosch pair get two stars because they aren't Asko, those REALLLLLLLLLLY sucked. At least our Bosch didn't break down until after the warranty. The Asko-les broke down continuously before and after. The Bosch have broken down several times the first being a couple of months after the warranty expired. Actually, the dryer is what has primarily broken down. The washer just gets moldy very easily and makes your clothes stink like ass and mushrooms. You just have to do a thorough cleaning every month or two and keep the doors open.

4.0 out of 5 stars love my bosch
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on July 4, 2012
I bought the washer and dryer. My first experience with Bosch laundry equipment was in France. I tossed in heavily used travel clothing for three people and stains that had long since been forgotten came out! The clothes were clearly cleaner. With my own machines I found that I had to using the settings more carefully to get what I wanted. The same is true for the dryer. Both the washer and dryer have longer cycles than US manufactured machines. Once you get used to that and do a little fine tuning, you'll experience truly clean clothing that will last longer. There was a comment about the sheets balling up in the dryer. They do. That's the only thing I have to address during the cycle. If you want your clothes washed fast - this equipment isn't for you. If you want your clothes to last and be truly clean, it is well worth adjusting to the European washing system.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unsuitable for more than one person.

I purchased a Bosch washer (model WAS20160UC) and dryer (model WTV76100US) set in December 2011. This is the experience I have had with the Bosch appliances. It is a vented dryer, not the condensation model. This review is mostly about the dryer.

Pros: Stylish (witch makes no difference since the dryer is so poor)

Cons: This dryer takes very long to dry even small loads. It will get warm but not hot. A Bosch technician measured the temperature of the dryer at 122 degrees Fahrenheit. But, he informed me that this was normal for this dryer. In one test; two bath towels, two hand towels, and one facial towel were washed in the washer and rinsed on maximum spin to remove as much of the water as possible. It took the dryer 1hr. 20 min. to dry the load. After many phone calls and 3 or 4 service calls, they replaced the dryer. It performed as poorly as the first. So, I called an electrician to really find out what was going on. With freshly washed towels in the dryer, he observed the dryer drawing 10 amps (about the maximim rating) for 15 to 20 seconds. Then it went down to 5 amps for about about 30 seconds (he described it as half heat) then down to room temperature air coming out of the exhaust for another couple minutes. It repeats this cycle. At no time does the dryer actually get hot enough to remove the moisture from the load. It mostly just uses ambiant temperature air to dry the clothes. If touch the clothes in the middle of the load, they mearly feel slightly warm. While it is not practical for most people to use a clothes line, I think it would be just as effective as this dryer.

The thing that bugs me the most about this whole debacle is this: Both Bosch and the appliance store had the attitude that I should just accept the poor performance because it is a European design. I heard many excuses defending an appliance that I truly believe they KNOW does not perform as it should.

If you buy a coffee maker, do you expect it to make coffee in about 15 minutes? If you buy a blender, do you expect it to blend what you put in it? Well, when you buy a DRYER, you kind of expect it to actively dry.

In fairness, this washer/dryer set may be suitable for a single person who does small loads of laundry. You can expect a small load to take 60 minutes to wash and 80 minutes to dry. So you are right around 3.5 to 4 hours for two small loads.

Update: The appliance store has taken back the Bosch washer and dryer. I have replaced them with a GE unitized washer/dryer (model GTUP240EWH) This dryer completely dried the same load in 30 minutes.

I hope this review is helpful for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love our little bosch washer and dryer!
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on March 5, 2013
We built a little cottage on the water to replace our river house after it was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Got the plans from the Lowe's website in August 2008 and built the little 700 sq ft cottage we now live in. Because of the dimensions, we were very limited in what kind of appliances we could put in. The Bosch washer/dryer set stacked together exactly perfectly in the very small closet we had downstairs. They remind me a lot of the washer and dryers you run across if you spend much time traveling in Europe or the Middle East. Because of the cost of utilities overseas, these systems are designed to be extremely energy efficient. They're also the quietest systems we've ever owned...they need to be, because not only are they in a tiny house, they're stacked in the closet immediately outside of our bedroom. We never have trouble sleeping while they're running, as long as we're not washing or drying something like dog collars with a lot of metal parts. They are unique for an American to use...unlike the dryer I grew up that just blasts heat non-stop, this system will take longer to dry your clothes, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It uses a little more gentle heat, and rather than running continuously, it runs silently for a few minutes, stops to let the heat it's built up continue to dry the clothes without motion for a few minutes, then runs again. That's what makes it so energy efficient. We've had ours for about four and a half years and have done nothing other than clean the filter with each load. The only downside I've found with it is that we'd like to buy a new lint filter because the filter light is starting to stay on, and the bosch website is fairly useless for providing detail on how to purchase what I would assume would be the most often touched/highest wear and tear part. You can find every single nut/bolt/spring on this device on the bosch website, but you apparently can't buy the filter there...that seems like more than a minor oversight. Anyway, I would rate the dryer a five star for our situation. I'd give the washing machine a four star, primarily because no matter how much you clean the gasket on the door, it develops large mildew spots quickly if you don't dry out the gasket, and if you ever decide to take the gasket off to try to clean it more, you need an SEC football offensive lineman to help you get the spring that holds the gasket in place BACK on to the machine. Other than that, it's actually fairly easy to service a lot of the things yourself, and I've never thought highly of my ability to work on appliances. We're building a bigger house now and we're going to go all Bosch on that one as well, although we'll look at getting a larger Bosch washer/dryer if they make them...but if it comes down to it, I'd buy the exact same ones again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Looks good, performs badly

Like its matching washer, we purchased this stackable dryer to fit a small laundry closet in our 1BR vacation condo.

Pro: It is attractive, vents out back or side, and install was easy. The stainless drum is nice and the lint filter is easy to clean out.

Cons: It does NOT dry the clothes quickly. It gets warm, occassionally moderately warm (never hot), but then it does not stay warm for long. So a small load of towels takes a couple hours and still come out damp dry. Just not enough energy going in to remove the latent heat (i.e., not hot enough to dry the clothes in a reasonable time). Bosch says this unit uses "higher flow rate at a lower temperature," and I completely understand their intent, but it just doesn't seem to move enough moisture regardless of their claim.

Well, we have only had the unit a couple months and have yet to get a dry load.

Machine uses moisture sensors (near the lint filter). Repairman could not tell me if these have any control over heat level or just used to indicate level of dryness to turn machine off. There is good flow out the vent, so if it isn't the flow rate then it must be energy level. Repairman says - "normal" , but it was close to lunchtime. Or maybe it really is just a poor Bosch design.

This machine is a disappointment. Stay away from Bosch.

One year later. Still dries very slowly. But we have learned to keep the loads small (two bath towels, one hand towel, a couple wash cloths and bath mat take about 1.5 hours to dry). We also learned that the cotton, very dry setting is the only setting that works well. Lint filter fills up fast, so empty after each load.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bosch Dryer works great - proper venting is the key!
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on July 14, 2013
I bought the stacking washer and dryer since I don't have a lot of room - we are a family of 3.
For some time I thought the dryer was faulty as many other reviewers have reported. I found out that my dryer vent was at fault. It seems as though the vent should be at the same height or lower than the machine hose outlet - mine was venting straight up. To test, pull off the hose and see if your dryer works the way it should. Mine did.
Now that the venting is correct the dryer works like a champ. Love it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money!
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on May 3, 2013
My girlfriend has all Bosch appliances. Over that past the years, when I have stayed at her house, I have been forced to deal with these products.

None are really good. But his dryer is overwhelmingly the worst of them all. It's a piece of junk. In three years, it has never once properly dried a load of clothes. I have tried every setting possible. Forget trying to use the permanent press cycles. It's a total waste of time. The "dry sensor" simply doesn't work on any cycle. We had a technician check it out and he said it was working fine. Maybe, fine of a Bosch appliance!! I have resorted to using the 40 minute warm cycle for everything. Even then, I have to run it through partially on additional cycle. All-in-all, it is actually easier to bring my dirty laundry home to my house and wash and dry it there.

Bottom line - stay away from Bosch appliances. They are a waste of money and a constant source of frustration. There are so many other brands out there to choose from!

1.0 out of 5 stars dryer fail
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on June 28, 2014
FYI: Earlier I posted a positive review of this product. But about a month after I wrote that, my dryer started having all the same problems that everybody else talked about. It basically just didn't get hot enough and then it turned off way too early. It's sad, because when this dryer worked, it worked well. But I exchanged it for a used whirlpool, which has been hot and noisy but very reliable.
