Bose® MIE2i mobile headset
Take your iPod/iPhone enjoyment to new heights with premium sound from Bose. The Bose MIE2i mobile headset is designed specifically for use with your favorite Apple products. An inline integrated remote lets you take calls on your iPhone with one-touch ease. And a three-button remote located on the reverse side of the mic provides control of your iPod, iPhone and other select Apple devices. Adjust volume, play/pause tracks, skip tracks forward/backward, fast forward/rewind, and change playlists--all while enjoying your music.
This redesigned headset sets a new standard for audio reproduction that conventional mobile headsets can't match. It features an enhanced acoustic design, in concert with a proprietary Bose TriPort acoustic headphone structure. Music sounds smoother and more natural, with impressive low note performance. Your calls will sound clearer, too, with the added benefit of hearing them in "stereo" instead of through a single earpiece.
One-Touch Switching, Hands-Free Talking
When your phone rings, just push the answer/end button to pause your music and take the call. The inline microphone supports mobile communications, enabling access to certain voice applications, such as VoiceOver or Voice Control, where available. The mic is also omnidirectional so it picks up your voice clearly--no need to hold it to your lips. Ending the call is done with a touch, and your music continues from where you left off.
Designed to Stay Put While You're On The Run
Proprietary StayHear silicone tips offer greater in-ear stability during walking, exercise and other active sports. Soft and flexible, the tips nestle inside the bowl of the ear while naturally conforming to the ear's upper ridge. And they come in three sizes to fit listeners comfortably for hours on end.
StayHear tips also rest more securely on the headset itself. This provides more reliable performance when taking calls and listening to music on the go.
Enhanced TriPort Acoustic Design
The Bose MIE2i headphones incorporates a new port to help music sound smoother and more natural. Available only from Bose, the TriPort acoustic headphone structure produces tonally balanced audio with deep low notes from small, in-ear headphones.
MIE2i headphones boast a sturdy design, thanks to advanced materials, construction and manufacturing techniques--all adding up to more lasting quality for you. Each pair undergoes rigorous testing to meet Bose standards for performance and durability. The reliable cable construction enhances flexibility and durability to better withstand the rigors of everyday use.
Designed Exclusively for Your Apple Product
The MIE2i headset is compatible with iPhone (3GS and later), iPod touch (2nd generation and later), 2009 iPod classic (120GB and 160GB), iPod nano (4th generation and later) and iPod shuffle (3rd generation and later). My devices past and present: Sennheiser hd595, AT M50 (headphones) Klipsch s4, UE triplefi 10, beyerdynamic mmx 101 (earbuds)
Music: Indie rock (mumford&sons, say anything, the format/fun...) Classics (beatles, ccr, zeppelin, floyd...) Some country and some classical.
Most ppl wont recognize my listening devices, and thats because most who use them tend to stay away from bose. I was curious tho, because I had just gotten the iphone 5 and wanted buds with a microphone. I tried the beyers mmx101 first, but they had to be EQd with portable amp to get the sound they're capable of; problem with that was the in-line microphone remote wouldn't work then.
So I tried the bose out next.....
There's no doubt bose is a quality sound, different and a unique sound signature, but I enjoyed the sound. But when it comes to IE buds, sound isn't the only thing that matters. I have two issues with these, and it's enough to make me return them.
1) There isn't a good seal. I knew going in I wasn't going to get the same kind of seal due to the fact bose are not compatible with "Comply Foam Tips", but I never would have imagined it would be this bad. If you don't get a good seal, you will leak sound out, and also sound from the outside environment can get in. I tried all 3 tip sizes, the Large was able to block out more sound but still no where near the kind of noise isolation you need to truly enjoy the resonance earbuds deliver.
2) Uncomfortable. Once I found the tips that worked best for me (turns out it was the mediums which are the ones they have on right out of the box), I began my listening session. I lasted about an hour before I had to take them out. My ears were on fire, it literally looked like I dipped them in red paint. I tried them the next day, and I lasted a little longer. I think trying all 3 of the tips (the smalls were the least comfortable) may have contributed to the irritation. I had them in for 1 1/2 hours day 2, but still had too much discomfort, but at least my ears didn't look like I just ate a ghost pepper,
Now onto the sound, which I enjoyed. They were very comparable to my S4, had a nice full sound.
The highs I thought were just okay. I felt like the highs didn't get very much separation and at times were really mashed together, but they didn't become harsh ever.
The bass and mids are definitely the strong points and the only reason I gave any consideration to keeping these. The bass could be deeper, but that's more or less because you can't get a tight seal. At no point did it ever get sloppy or muddy.
Very accurate mids I felt, very rich and superb clarity. I got a very warm sensation on my more mellow tracks, but on for instance "kashmir" by Zeppelin, these things do shine.
All in all good buds if you're going to use them only at home otherwise it's just way to easy for outside noise to crash the party. I guess one positive thing to say about the 'wing tips' is they definitely stay in place. If in the future bose designs some buds that can use Comply Tips which allow for as good a seal as you can get, and extreme comfort, I would most certainly be a buyer.
If you look at the 1 star reviews you see the cord just is junk. Problem one.
One of the cord buttons also just fell off, so that was also an unpleasant early-ish fault. Problem Two.
About a year in one of the ears inside metal piece (the thing with a lot of tiny holes in it) just fell into the plastic part; anytime the music was loud or bassy the metal bit would vibrate creating quite a bit of weird sounds. Problem Three.
And then about 2 weeks ago the plastic on the the head phone side with the above issue cracked and all working stopped. Problem Four.
Admittedly, I'm probably a bit to laissez-faire with my objects, so it's possible that Problems 3 and 4 are my fault, but the cord seems to be a consistent issue that's not limited to my experiences.
In both pair, the cord rubber degraded near the earpiece. In this, my second pair, the cord rubber degraded near the plug. So, after wasting $260 twice because I really like the sound, I've concluded it's hopeless; the rubber fully separates near endpoints. In this pair, the cord rubber is starting to separate near the controller, too.
Consider, too, that after paying $130 you get a 12-month warranty for something Bose slapped together with cheap rubber and plastic. They definitely put more thought into the price. I am now 2,5 years. So, I'm not eligible for any remedy from the manufacturer.
To make to even better, as I’ve moved to Brasil, the local service center (Engevídeo Home System, located in São Paulo city) has been asking me a fortune to fix these. When I notified Bose of the problem, they offered to let me buy another pair for half price. No thanks!
I just want to let everyone know that after a while you may have some problems. Shortly after my warranty was up, I noticed that the wire started to curl up on its own. Within about two months the plastic covering has separated from the wire in multiple places, including at the ear pieces. The left ear piece no longer works.
Although the sound is nice, I'm done with these over-priced, poorly constructed Bose earphones. it Has being is very unpleased and disappointing for me.
