The Bose® CineMate II speaker system provides high-quality home theater sound to get more from your HDTV experience. Just two compact speakers and a hideaway Acoustimass® module deliver sweeping cinematic sound that puts you in the middle of your movies, games and sports. Proprietary TrueSpace® technology enables this immersive performance--without immersing you in equipment. There are no rear or center speakers, eliminating much of the wiring of traditional 5-speaker systems. Just connect the system right to your TV and control basic functions with a simple four-button remote.
Improved acoustics. Exceptional value.
The CineMate II system is an ideal choice for your first home theater speakers or a Bose surround experience in smaller rooms. The simplified, two-speaker setup offers a hassle-free addition to your HDTV. And the improved acoustics provide exceptional value for home theater performance.
Newly redesigned Articulated Array speakers--now with a striking, pure black finish--aesthetically match today's flat-panel TVs. The hideaway Acoustimass module reproduces resonant low notes that add drama to movies and games. And it now includes a dedicated bass control for your listening preferences. Place the module in a corner or out of view--all the sound seems to come from the compact speakers.

Bose® CineMate® Series II home theater system
The easiest way to add Bose home theater performance to your HDTV
Bring your favorite movies, shows, games and music to life with the Bose CineMate II system. Two compact speakers and a hideaway Acoustimass module deliver dramatic home theater sound, all made possible by proprietary TrueSpace technology. The system connects easily to your HDTV, and the sleek, four-button remote lets you control on/off, volume and mute.
A small interface module houses the audio input from your TV and displays on/off status for your system. Digital 5.1 decoding provides improved realism from 5.1-encoded DVDs, DBS or HDTV. Combine that with Proprietary Videostage 5 decoding and post-processing circuitry, and you'll enjoy a high quality, multichannel surround sound experience from almost any source—such as DVDs, stereo CDs and MP3 discs.
Articulated Array speakers
Compact speaker arrays provide thrilling home theater sound—without the need for rear or center channel speakers. Patented speaker array design works in concert with TrueSpace digital surround processing circuitry to deliver a spacious, multichannel presentation from just two visible speakers and a hideaway Acoustimass module.
The Acoustimass module for the CineMate Series II speaker system works in concert with the small speakers to deliver the full range of sound. The patented Bose design produces low frequencies for all channels with no audible distortion. When the module is tucked behind a curtain or chair, all of the sound seems to come directly from the two arrays.
Proprietary TrueSpace digital processing circuitry
Delivers a spacious, multichannel sound experience with strong center imaging from just two visible speakers and a hideaway Acoustimass module.
This module houses two LED indicators and connectors for your audio input. It receives IR commands for the speaker system. And it connects directly to your TV while providing status information (on/off) for your speaker system.
Simplified 4-button remote
Features power, volume and mute functions for easy system operation.
Easy system setup
Setup consists of only four simple connections. This eliminates the guesswork often associated with more complex systems.
Videostage 5 decoding and post-processing circuitry
This proprietary technology, combined with digital 5.1 decoding, delivers a high quality, multichannel surround sound experience from practically any source--such as DVDs, CDs and MP3 discs.

Theatre like sound effects if Woofer is properly placed and Bass turned on.
Extremely Easy to use if your TV or receiver has an optical audio output.
Effect is better than most other 2.1 speakers avilable, making it mostly the only one available in market who need 5.1 effect with 2.1. To be honest its not like 5.1, but much better than 2.1. The surround effect depends a lot on the acoustics of your room. Atleast for me, I don't get the kind of surround effect that they advertize, still feel the bass is well done to be high when needed and low when not.
For most dialogue scenes feels like just TV speaker, the effect is only during action/dance/music scenes. Would expect some theatre like effect on dialogues as well.
Wire from aucoustimass module to speakers is ~8 feet, with both speaker split around TV it reduces the distance you can move aucoustimass module even less, luckily there is a 40feet cable available on bose/amazon for 20 bucks. But expect bose to throw in such stuff by default on a 600$ speaker system.
Remote does not integrate with anything else, you need to,I stress again, you must use the remote that comes with the speakers for controlling volume. Some times when the volume goes high as we change channels or play differnt videos of diffent quality I run searching for the remote to controll volume, very annoying.
Bass cannot be controlled on the remote. If you duck in your aucoustimass under a table or couch you practically cannot control bass at all. I like to keep bass high during day time while low at night to avoid complaints from neighbors. Annoying to walk upto the module everytime.
Speakers do not turn on with the TV, need to turn them on separately.
Inspite of all the issues, I give credit for Bose for making such amazing sound possible from simple, small and elegant speakers.
- The overall sound was good during TV and movies where there is a lot of background sound on top of the dialog. I had no trouble hearing the dialog is these situations. The system sounded pretty good for this type of use.
- The subwoofer has a volume adjustment knob on the back.
- I could not detect a difference in the quality of the sound between using the RCA stereo cable and the digital optical cable. The optical cable plugged into the Bose and my TV just fine.
- The overall cosmetic quality of the unit is very good.
- The subwoofer was capable of producing far more base than I wanted.
- The unit was capable of producing more overall volume than I needed in a very large room.
- The unit is better suited for use in watching TV and movies than for music. For music, I rate the sound as OK, not great.
- The Bose sound quality was not as good as some small good quality speakers powered by a stero amplifier accompanied by a decent 8" powered subwoofer. The Bose didn't seem to have the breadth and warmth of sound as my speaker system.
- The little remote worked fine. I could not find a code that allowed my DirectTV remote to operate this system.
- I did wonder if the Bose speakers would get better when the speakers were boken it. This is a possibility.
- The unit is very simple and easy to install, perhaps a 15 minute job with very simple wiring connections.
If the Bose system meets your listening needs, I think it is a good overall value at $539.

*The sound is very full and fills the room!!! Special effects and music sound amazing for a 2.1 system...just don't expect true surround sound.
*The setup es extremely quick and easy.
*The remote is simple and small. Only four buttons!
*The front speakers are small and compact.
*It's Bose...the name speaks for itself.
*Comes with TosLink Optical Sound cord. (Recommended)
*Price tag is a bit steep at $599.99. I bought refurbished for $450 from Amazon's seller network.
*Voices/dialogue are a bit hard to hear sometimes, so you need to turn up the volume.
*Not true surround sound. Although common sense should dictate a 2.1 system won't deliver true surround sound!
I needed a sound system for a 42" LED TV I bought for my upstairs bedroom office. The room is only 10' x 17' with the TV mounted on the wall. Lets just say this system is a bit overkill for such a small room...but that's just fine with me!
The Bose Cinemate II could easily fill a much larger room with great sound! You also don't have to worry about running wires all over the place...it's only a 2.1 system. The speakers are small, minus the sub-woofer which is fairly large and bulky. You can buy wall mounts or stands for the speakers if needed via Amazon.
If you don't mind the price tag....give it a try!
