Bose Lifestyle V25 Sleek Sound Speaker
Simplicity of setup and programming through the Unify Intelligent Integration System and LCD remote.

Easy to Set Up. Easy to Use.

The Lifestyle V25 system features the new Unify Intelligent Integration System to walk you through system setup, step by step. As you're attaching components to the control console, the system recommends the best connectors via onscreen messages. It even confirms that the connection was made properly. Each connected device is automatically added to the source menu accessed on your TV screen. No more toggling through video inputs to find the right source. If you add a Blu-ray player, it will be shown as a "Blu-ray player" in the onscreen menu. This makes it easy and intuitive for anyone to use the Unify system.

Unify technology also simplifies programming your Bose remote to control your Lifestyle system and most anything attached to it. During setup, the Unify system references an internal database to identify each connected component, and automatically teaches the Bose remote to control it. Plus, you'll view system information, including iPod and FM/AM status, on the Bose remote's LED screen.

And Once You're Set Up...

Bose Lifestyle V25 Sleek Sound Speaker

You'll experience uncompromising surround sound, a hallmark of Lifestyle systems. The V25 system's surround sound performance is provided by four Direct/Reflecting speakers and a horizontal center channel speaker. They produce a level of sound that adds impact and realism to your entertainment. That sound is aided by an Acoustimass module that can be placed in a corner or out of view. Exclusive technology in the module helps provide the emotional intensity you feel at the theater or in a concert hall. Even hidden out of sight, its impact can't be missed.

I just bought the V25 system last week. Here's a rather long review with points to consider...
The Good:
Setup is of the system is ridiculously simple - with guided instructions that show up on your TV and verify that you have everything connected correctly. Bose also includes a setup system called AdaptIQ that uses 2 microphones in place of speakers on a set of headphones (note: see "Bad" below). You wear them and sit in 5 different locations around your room while the system plays a series of test tones from each of the system speakers and the Acoutimass subwoofer. Then the system analyzes the readings and automatically sets up the system to match your particular room acoustics. It's smart enough to know if you haven't moved position between test tones, displaying on the screen "It doesn't appear as though you have moved since the last test, please move to another position" (or a message to that effect).

The same intelligent design goes into their remote control unit. The system guides you through setting up the Bose remote control (very solid - almost seems like billet aluminum) to take over the functions of all your other remotes. Anyone can do this - Bose really has machine/human interface and usability down to a finely tuned science.

All speaker wires are color-coded and marked for polarity at both ends. They have RCA audio jacks on one end and solder-tinned bare wires on the other. Speaker connections are made without tools by pressing a button while inserting the wires into the clearly marked holes. The rear speaker wires are 50 feet long - easily long enough to allow drilling through the floor and running them across your basement ceiling to the exact location you need in your room (assuming you have a basement).

While I admit this system is pricey, and you are over-paying for the speakers it is still IMHO worth it. The interface is perfect and the bose system becomes your media center. One remote on radio frequency (that works through walls) controls my TV, DVR, BluRay, Ipod (on built in dock station) ... the unify system that makes set-up idiot proof and is a breeze to calibrate to the room. Plus the system is sleek and aesthetic. And the sound is phenomenal. Pricey, but worth it. You get what you pay for ... I am very happy with the purchase.

So I bought this after hearing it in the stores and thought it was great. I did a fair amount of research and read all the bad things about it online in forums but wasn't convinced because of the way I heard it sound. Now I'm no "audiophile" in fact I know very little about audio equipment. So I was delighted to buy the Bose system completely ignorant to what real audiophiles were saying. I must say I was really disappointed when I set it up in my room. I now know why people say "no highs, no lows, must be Bose." When I played music with it it just didn't sound like a $2500. System. In fact I think that my $400 Sony DVD all-in-one home theater system sounded better. Now I don't think its trash though because it had some cool features like ease of use. It was so easy to set up and really easy to use the universal remote feature because I could control all my other equipment (except for the PS3 because its Bluetooth). The sound system isn't completely horrible because I could hear really clear voices during movies but explosions and gunfights were dull sounding and there was barely any background noise. Music had no bass or drum symbols. In the end I returned it (and Amazon was great BTW!) and got a Yamaha receiver with PSB image speakers for a fraction of the price and couldn't be more happy. The Yamaha receivers have the same thing as AdaptIq except theirs is called YPAO and works better. I would not tell anyone close to me to get this sound system but if you want to spend a lot of money to buy an ok sound system that is really easy and convenient to use and you only want to watch movies and television on it then this is the product for you. But if you want a really good sounding system I wouldn't suggest buying this.

There are some audiophiles out there who like to bash this system and say it's too expensive for what you get, but for most of us who can afford it the Bose V25 offers an excellent combination of performance, integration and ease of us. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The sound is finely calibrated, vocals are clear, and the bass isn't too heavy. The speakers are small, well designed and much more aesthetically pleasing than big speakers systems. And I especially appreciate the ease of set up and the ability to control everything through one system and one remote. The only drawback is that the remote can't control my Panasonic TV's streaming internet capability. Even so i would still recommend this system highly to those who can afford it.

The system which this replaced was a Sony AV system with JBL speakers (very large); though not a audiophile system, I was happy with it. The Bose system is much better and has excellent sound. I also bought the SL2 surround link so I wouldn't have to have wires for my rear speakers; this is a great feature and I would highly recommend it.

Before buying the system, I read many reviews, read all the Bose on-line information and called Bose. I verified that the only difference between the V25 and the V35 is the physical size of the speakers. For $800 more, I could not justify the V35 size speakers. Once I got my V25 system I am convinced the extra $800 would NOT be worth it. The V25 speakers are very small, and 3/4" to 1" difference in dimensions makes absolutely no difference to me; nor would I think it would matter for any normal system setup. So, if you're considering the Bose lifestyle, don't waste time looking at the V35 system unless you've got more money than you know what to do with !

However, where you could spend that money you saved on a V35 might be for a pre-amp, for a turntable. I still have a very nice turntable and many vinyls, which I want to use through my Bose. You can't connect a turntable to your Bose system without a pre-amp; so, you have to call Bose and order one through them. Just thought I'd point this out because it was not obvious to me when I bought the system. I only realized it when I tried to hook it up.

As for the setup, it is easy; however, those who claim they can do it in 2 hours must be technical/electronic gurus. I'm an engineer, with a strong electronics background; however, it took me about 4 hours.
