Not as Durable as Expected from Bose
This review is just shy of 2 years since the purchase of my first Bose SIE2i Sport Headphones. Since that time, I have made my way through the original purchased pair as well as a replacement pair. I'll start by saying these are some of the most comfortable and best sounding sports headphones I've tried. After working my way through 5 to 10 different headphones for running and cycling, I spent the extra money and purchased these at the recommendation of a colleague. Once I tried them on, I didn't believe they would stay in my ear as they were so comfortable but I never once had an issue with their fit. They were excellent headphones for about six months...Now, to why I gave these headphones two stars (it would have been one if not for the comfort and fit). My first pair of Bose SIE2i Sport Headphones began having issues with the volume controls and microphone within six months of purchase. This didn't concern me as I typically don't alter the volume much during a run or ride and certainly don't take calls. I have other Bose noise canceling headphones for my non-exercise needs so I decided I could live with the problem. However, as I wore the headphones the volume began to go all the way up or down, randomly. This can be quite a problem when on a bike ride and the volume maxes out. Soon after this began, I took the headphones to a Bose store and they replaced them with very few questions asked (great customer service). My second pair of Bose SIE2i Sport Headphones fit and worked as good as the previous version for, again, about six months when the volume controller and microphone began acting up again. Given I was past my year warranty on the original pair at this point, I decided to ride it out. With the second pair, I didn't have the random volume swings as before but the sound quality would fade in and out. This was all manageable up until about a week ago when the left earpiece completely lost functionality. Well, today both earpieces completely failed during a run. The earpieces themselves didn't appear to have much in the way of wear and tear so I took apart the volume control/mic, which is where the problem seemed to start. FYI, you basically have to destroy the headphones to do this but I figured I didn't have anything to lose at this point. The small board inside had lots of corrosion (see photo) on or near the button controls and where the wires entered the control housing. From what I can tell, it appears sweat got in the mic opening as there was only mesh and some foam there, which doesn’t appear to be water proof. There was also some infiltration at the wires enter the housing. Given that water and sodium (sweat) are quite corrosive (think about ocean air), it appears the electronics failed after exposure. Now I used to tolerate problems from the $20 headphones I previously purchased but expected a lot more from Bose given these advertise "Sweat- and weather-resistance, using hydrophobic acoustic cloth". Oh, and the price. I expected a lot more from $100+ headphones. At this point, I am going to look into options other than Bose for my exercise headphone needs (twice is enough). While I'm a dedicated Bose fan (I own two pair of noise canceling headphones and a bluetooth speaker), I'll likely try the Jaybird X2s as they have a similar looking fit mechanism and a lifetime sweat guarantee - wireless is nice too.

I searched, read reviews and asked a million questions of other runners and the ear buds they preferred. An overwhelming amount said Bose SIE2. I had compared these to the Bowers & Wilkins brand of nearly $200.00 but they did not fair so well in their reviews. So here is the good and bad for the Bose SIE2's

Good:
Amazing sound quality, perfect high's and perfect low's
Comes with small, medium and large buds for a perfect fit
They DO NOT MOVE at ALL when running, it took an act of God to remove them from my ear! PERFECTION! Not even when sweating or jumping around
Variable length cord ( the short one is perfect with the band however)
Comes with an awesome Reebok/Bose armband and it fits the iPhone5 perfectly (without your case/cover though)
Easy to adjust volume and pause/play music
Great microphone for answering calls
The ear buds are easily wiped down and the cord doesn't tangle
Although they are not noise cancelling, I couldn't hear a thing over the music

Bad:
Don't put your music up too high, you will most certainly be permanently deafened
Don't babysit and have these on, you will NOT hear your child cry ;-)
The cord is not so great for going in your shirt, so if running use the armband, much easier and safer ( you won't choke yourself)
Takes a little juggling around to find the fit under the ridge of your ear. Make sure you insert these pre-sweat for a perfect fit

I cannot say enough about these. They were pricey but the quality of sound, workmanship and the fit are all well worth it. I have used many other's that have not fit this well or delivered on their promise to not fall out of my ear when running, but they failed, hence this purchase. Awesome, thank you Bose for finally giving me an enjoyable run and crossfit workout, without having to deal with buds that consistently fall out.

I have never had headphones fit as comfortably as these and do not cause wearer fatigue. They also fit very securely and won't fall out when exercising. In addition, the sound quality is excellent and the microphone works great. Nobody realizes that I'm not on the handset and calls are clear an crisp.
The only downside of these is a minor cord length issue as the should have made the main cord 3-4 inches longer and the extension 5-6 in shorter. I don't plan on using the armband because I would have to remove my iPhone from the case each time for it to fit. Also I can't rate durability since I have only had them a few days, but they seem well made.

So my Klipsch S5i ruggeds decided to give up the ghost on me after just over a year and I needed something new. I saw the same model on Amazon but through a third party seller; a path I will never go down. After doing some research, I ended up taking the plunge and buying these.

First of all, I would say the sound reproduction is really good. There seems to be a touch more bass than my old Klipsch efforts and I found myself gravitating towards the EDM and Hip Hop areas of my collection. The microphone is also very good and I have found people telling me they prefer to talk to me with the earphones plugged in as it is clearer than my phone's on mic (Galaxy S4).

As for the negatives, I do feel that the Klipsch earbuds gave a fuller ranger of sound, and I have found that I have to turn up the volume a lot more to get the same level of sound that I am used to. As well as this, a lot more noise escapes and is audible for other people who are sitting close by. I try to be considerate towards other folk on bus so this is a minor annoyance. One last thing I would mention is that I find the length of cable from mic to earbuds is a little short. A couple more inches would have been welcomed.

Overall, I would recommend these earbuds to anyone who listens to more bass friendly music and likes a fair amount of quality. I do still prefer the S5i from Klipsch, but that isn't to say these aren't worth the money. Definitely worth a punt and probably the best earbuds in this price bracket (that is sold and shipped by Amazon).

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Solution
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 20, 2014
I have tried many headphones for running and gym use, using various neckband types (Sens and Phillips) for the last few years as I wanted to avoid the earbud types falling out and coming lose as sweat mounts up in my ears. Despite the price, the Bose brand has always been the brand to aspire to and good reviews of this product led me to take the chance and splash out. I have waited a couple of months to put these through their paces before posting this review, but now feel its time to give them the acclaim they deserve.

I am a very heavy ear sweater, and my ears pool with sweat early in to a run or CV workout, normally rendering ingress in to phone drivers which either leads to reduced sound or eventually swamping and failure of the earpiece. Even when this hasn't happened, eventually the sweat ingress has led to rusting and eventual failure of the earpiece. Not so, so far with these. Not once has there been a 'swamping' event that has led to this phenomena.

From a comfort point of view, I cannot feel these in my ear at all, and they just do not move or dislodge through my workout, running or any other activity. When I first received them I thought that the seemingly flimsy silicon prongs would not hold the buds in place, but they are so good you don't notice them at all - other than they just dont move even through the jolting of my heavy weight running. This means that you can get on with your work out and actually really enjoy the music being delivered to yuor ears.

Sound wise I think they are the best I have listened to - and I suppose at the price they should be. Good level of bass, and clear right across the range. Excellent volume and no distortion even when pushed up to the top. I use them for everyday listening in all situations. The comfort being just amazing - even for long periods.

So - overall - they are a luxury purchase at this price, but I think completely provide the optimum solution for someone who suffers from excessively sweaty ears during workouts and who is seeking a secure individual earbud solution over a neckband. The combination of sound quality and ulitmate comfort are truly deserving of a 5 star review. If you can afford to buy these then do so - you will not regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitiv der beste In-Ear Kopfhörer
Reviewed in Germany on November 12, 2013
und besonders robust gebaut, was ihn praktisch unverwundbar macht.

Bose ® QuietComfort ® 20i Acoustic Noise Cancelling ® Headphones  anschauen, welche Geräuschunterdrückung besitzen.

FAZIT:
