I used to buy this type of tag in aluminum but they apparently are no longer available. I tried to buy metal tags at local nurseries and big box hardware stores alike to no avail so was delighted to find them on Amazon. They last a long, long time and because they're embossed the writing doesn't fade. My dog likes to remove and chew up the plastic labels that come with plants, which is not good for many reasons. He doesn't seem interested in having metal in his teeth (yet, anyway!). As far as the ease of embossing, you need to follow their suggestions and use a ballpoint pen and a pliable surface. I find the cardboard back of a writing tablet to be perfect. It works best if you print slowly in block letters. The only thing that could have been better would be to get them in a recloseable plastic bag, they're sealed up in a nice heavy bag but you have to cut it open and then it's useless.

After reading reviews and attempting to read my handwriting, I decided I would make a template. I used Word and drew a 4" high x 3/4" wide rectangle. Then I put text inside at a 90 degree counter clockwise turn using Lucinda Calligraphy. Repeat for all ten on the same paper. Then I taped the tags to the underside of the printed sheet, matching the rectangles. I traced the front side of the printed sheet using a ball point pen and placing a magazine under the tags taped to the paper. It turned out beautifully! I'm going to try to upload pictures. (Note, I used duct tape and it was TOO much! Scotch tape will serve the purpose nicely).

Also, you can use the pants hangers from the dry cleaners (cardboard bottom, wire hook and sides...there is a hook where the hanger meets the cardboard. Remove the cardboard, cut the hanger where the hanging part bends on each side. You end up with two 7-8" hanging hooks!

on the tags. Do not rust. Be sure to use a ball point pen,
press hard, and use a magazine under the tag.

These look great on my grafted fruit trees. Very helpful in identifying the varieties. Real copper, not copper-colored. I took a torch to a few of them to bring out some cool color effects. Inscribing them was simple too. I used a cutoff knitting needle which works perfectly.

These thin, malleable, labels are of good material quality copper, and afford a generously proportioned wire tie. The edges were sufficiently milled that they didn't cut my fingers off during use. I've used both a battery-operated etching tool and vanadium-steel stamps with great results, although stamping will return the most durable marking.

They look great, but are just too thin to be much use. After 3 months in the garden, the tags actually faded to unreadable (yes, you actually are imprinting the copper, so I don't know how that happens). I am giving this 3 stars because it's copper, and I think it may help as a bug repellant to a degree, since the copper seems to be dissolving, so it's got to be going into the soil itself, but as a label? Not good.

Live these. We used these markers at our wedding. Part of our ceremony was planting a tree in memory of our son. Each guest wrote their name on a tag and after our pastor said a prayer for Ryan blessing the tree, everyone tied their tags to the tree. Was a very touching way to include our son.

These worked great. I tried my hand at grafting my apple tree. These worked great to remind me what I grafted. They've been through a lot of rain and wind and have held up wonderfully.

I only wish these tags were a little bit thicker. If they were any thinner - it would remind me of aluminum foil.

They seem to hold up well over the summer. They are a good size and easy to use.

The tags are OK.. Wire is very thin and (I have had them installed for 2 years now) they break off from flex fatigue. :( ... So i would look for something with thicker wire ties or plan to replace them pretty soon... before you forget what the varieties are your labeled.

In my case, I have 10 4 in 1 variety trees and some labels came off, so now I have to retie the correct labels to the correct branches with thicker ties. Just wish it was a one time deal...
