I had just finished the panty whisperer and so loved it - but there were way too many similarities in the plot line. It kept jerking me out of the story because I kept stopping and thinking - I already this in the previous book. I had to remind myself which characters I was dealing with. I don't want to give spoilers, but the timing of the hospitializations, and the unreasonable anger was just too much.
I ended up not liking JJ because she was so unrealistic on her expectations. I liked the story, but it would have been better if I not just read an almost identical book. The characters all had the same quirks, responded the same way, had the same lines used, too formulatic.
Jenny Jackson needs this job. Her father is sick and his medical bills are high, this job will make things easier for them both.
Ethan Mason is the boss. He is cocky and rude and instantly puts her on edge. These two have amazing chemistry. Jenny is the only female who isn’t afraid of him and tells him exactly what she thinks of him.
This book had me feeling so many different emotions throughout. I immediately fell in love with Jenny’s flatmate, Kelsey. She has such a great sense of humour, and like any true friend, will call her out when she’s over-thinking things.
Likewise, Matt, Ethan’s best friend, was a fantastic character, adding a bit of light-heartedness to the story. He too would call Ethan out on his actions, and make him see things clearly.
I felt as though I was on a roller coaster of emotions throughout this book. Laughing out loud one moment, balling my eyes out, the next. There were some super steamy sex scenes in there too, so add turned on to the mix!
I can’t say enough, how much I loved this book. Sloane, you really have out done yourself on this one. I can’t wait to read the next in the series!
Ethan's arc was great though. I'll read the sequel - I want to see how the next couple is written.
This is such a fun read with a perfect mixture of sexy and sweet. There are several occasions where I actually laughed. I️ enjoy a good book that can make me laugh.
“Maybe I️ had walled myself off. Maybe Jenny was threatening to crash through them like the Kool-Aid Man...”
I️ also enjoyed the banter between Ethan and Jenny, but I️ do feel like some of it crossed a line. He’s still her boss, and I️ think she crossed the lines a couple of times with her defiance. And at times, the story is familiar and predictable, which slowed my momentum in reading. But overall, I️ like the characters, the details, and writing.

Jenny needed to find a job to help with the payments of her father's hospital bills with his illness.
Whilst on the way to a job interview and not having a clue where she is going.
Jenny finds her safe haven of a coffee cart, but with time not on her side she inhales the aroma and runs.....right into a handsome stranger and spills his coffee. With strong words used between them both, the stranger is left gobsmacked. Not having the time she runs the to two blocks and is on time to the interview, but when she is invited into the conference room it all goes down hill cause 'he' is there.
Jenny believes there is not a chance for the job, but this is the start of something that could change everything.
With the main character's and there best friends showing loads of banter this story has me laughing, shouting and crying my eyes out (for some parts it could be coz I'm hormonal 😂)
But I loved how it all came together, the baseball references went straight over my head to some degree, but the storyline produced an emotional read that left all questions answered and a very satisfying ending. That could lead on to more.
Bossed takes us into the world of Sport’s Management, where Ethan Mason rules his empire with high expectations, bad manners and a seriously bad attitude which is only made worse after he meets the fabulous baseball, math whiz Jenny Jackson.
Jenny Jackson is a heroine who kicks ass and takes names! However, Jenny needs a job to help pay her father’s medical bills. Needing a job is a necessary evil although it becomes obvious, very quickly, that she can do the job with one hand tied behind her back.
The attraction between Ethan and Jenny quickly develops and there are a few meetings of a much more personal nature in the office.
Ethan’s normally rude and impatient manner starts to change and is noticed by other employees, leading to some speculation about this change.
Jenny changes too and as her feelings for Ethan become more complex, she becomes a bit less sarcastic but there continue to be times when she swings that bat and hits a homerun leaving others in her wake.
As one might expect, there are some misunderstandings and hurt feelings but I was not unhappy with how these characters got their happily-ever-after.
Undoubtedly Sloan Howell’s best work to date!
Jenny was really spunky!
The banter between Jenny and Ethan was off the charts!
The steamy-ness was high!
Jenny, looking for a better job came across Mason and Associates, she applied and was instantly offered an interview, on the way to her interview she bumps, literally bumps into this sexy stranger, then he opens his mouth.
She doesn't know if she wants to kiss him or slap him.
Then low and behold when she finally gets to her interview, who does she see behind the desk?
None other than the cocky, sexy stranger from the park.
Ethan liked Jenny,
She doesn't back down and matches him banter and then some.
Ethan has a past and he very much kept it in his future, he's very single minded when it comes to that subject but when Jenny comes along things start changing.
As much as i liked it, i couldn't fully love it. I'e the 4 stars instead of 5.
It felt like it needed something.
I don't know what, but it felt like it was missing something.
There seemed to be some miscommunication in parts that could of easily been resolved if they bloody spoke to eachother.
But other than that i really liked it!
This started in a familiar fashion with unfortunate meeting of strangers, later becoming boss and subordinate. All of the necessary elements were here in the book. It was an enjoyable office romance with great chemistry and sex, but the main characters were a little bit unlikeable. Ethan especially was just excessively abrasive and hurtful at times. I found that there was too much 'hot then cold ' and mixed signals to make me really want to invest in their relationship.
This was a case of the supporting characters being more fun than the main ones. I loved the support Kelsey gave Jenny and the parts with her dad and how his illness was handled was touching and well-thought out.
This book is so easy to just fall into reading and not stop until the end.. everyone loves to read an office romance!
Absolutely love Jenny and her kick ass attitude and the fact she doesn't back down and puts strong minded Ethan into his place on more than one occasion!
This book has all the Feels involved and I seriously can't wait to read the next in this series.
Love how this book is based around baseball but is also completely different from Sloane's other baseball stories.
