Editorial Reviews

Review

"This is an excellent, and incredibly detailed book… The blend of modern research and ancient wisdom harmoniously work, demonstrating that herbal medicine is both the oldest medical system in the world and more recently becoming scientifically validated." 'Health Matters' on Swindon 105.5, 2009

"Herbal medicines are being taken mostly by women, often for gynaecological problems. Therefore this is potentially an important book. It starts with some general issues related to herbal medicine and then focuses in its main part on women’s health. The book is written by several US authors and is firmly rooted in traditional herbalism, which is very different from the scientific approach to herbalism FACT readers might be used to." Botanical Medicine for Women’s Health. January 2010

This book gets better and better the more I use it. I really like that it is extremely thorough, scientific, and best of all, includes dosages and real recipes by weight/volume for all the formulas.

An excellent resource of botanical medicine applied to clincial gynecology. Clear and concise, this text uses botanicals in a comprehensive fashion to treat and maximize gynecological health. It nicely bridges the understanding for clinicians who need an in-depth reference on women's health from this perspective.

This book is a solid on my shelf. I use it frequently for reference when dealing with women's health issues. You need to be a trained herbalist or a doctor to understand it and get the most out of it. If you are just really interested in women's health and study a lot on your own you'd probably be fine too. Worth the money!

Aviva uses quite a bit of medical language, but this book is still very readable, and incredibly comprehensive, too. Aviva has a very clinical, research-based approach to herbal remedies, and as both a doctor and an herbalist (and a midwife!), she brings a unique perspective to women's health. Easy to use as a reference text, but also a delight to read start to finish.

Romm brings her expert knowledge as both a medical doctor and experienced herbalist to this thoroughly researched, well-documented, and highly useful book. It's a "must own" item for physicians, midwives, nurse practitioners, and women who wish to support their health or address health problems with herbal treatments.
