About the Author
Ted Magnuson (1951-) was born in Chicago. After completing an MBA in Florida he traveled west to insure sawmills, lumber yards, and other such allied business risks. This often meant he saw businesses pass from one generation to the next. The Bouchard Legacy 2012 tells of the coming of age of two young men in 1960's Mid-America who, it just so happens, also wrest with succession planning (for their own Sunny Day Beverage Company of St. Louis, MO). Ted believes 'a roadmap' of the world is often created when children become adults. As to whether that map is accurate or not; that's what family is all about. Though the The Bouchard Legacy is fiction, some effort has been made to be historically accurate. Ted loves the out of doors, especially cycling up and over mountain passes. He is married, and has two grown sons.

Immediately I got hooked on the time frame and characters depicted because they were like so many of the people of that era, The Feel Good Era as I often refer to it. The Bouchard Legacy quickly takes you back to those days where there were struggles and torments of being caught-up in a war that many people did not believe in and how to go about living, achieving and becoming your own person at the same time. I liked the way the author masterfully portrayed the 2 brothers as such opposites of each other, but yet I found myself accepting them both. All through the book were interesting momentary escapes into the past, one brother showing a lot of responsibility and doing the right thing and another brother being pushed along in life with a distant goal. Their adventures provide something for everyone.
